Chapter 10

• As they hurried through the forest, Nova and Astrid supported Liam between them, his breaths coming in ragged gasps. The events of the night had taken their toll on all of them, but none more so than Liam, who bore the physical wounds of their encounter with Maximus.
• Astrid glanced at Liam, her concern evident in her eyes. "What just happened back there, Liam?" she asked softly, her voice laced with worry. "Who is Maximus? And why did he say I was supposed to be his Luna?"
• Liam's expression darkened as he recounted the painful memories. "Maximus is the Alpha of the pack we left behind," he explained, his voice tinged with bitterness. "He was supposed to marry you, but when you chose me instead, he became... possessive."
