Chapter 5 A Lame Pick-Up-Line

  • My eyes moved in abrupt shock at this revelation she had just made. It was all unbelievable. I mean, how could me of all people be famous?
  • Famous for poverty, perhaps?
  • It just didn’t make sense.
  • “H-How this p-possible?” I asked, even stuttering in between my sentences. I was in so much discomfort and shock from what she had just said.
  • “I told you, Miss Eleanor. Your face was listed in the Hollywood Fashion magazine. In fact, their willing to pay multiple dollars just for your ordinary presence.” She mouthed out, still on the phone.
  • “You’re one lucky person, Miss!” she added.
  • I, still trying to take in what she had just said, asked.
  • “W-What do I have to do?” I asked immediately. I had no idea of what to do at a situation like this.
  • “Well, the bosses decided already. They said from tomorrow, you should immediately commence your schedules as a celebrity.” Margaret said, through the phone.
  • “Schedule?” I asked, to clarify.
  • “Yeah, just show up tomorrow and we’ll begin. Congratulations, once again!” Her words sunk in.
  • “Y-Yeah.” I replied timidly. Just as she ended the call, I screamed in happiness. I landed my butts painfully on my platform bed. But, I couldn’t care less about that.
  • I mean, who did after realizing he was famous?
  • “Wait, break it down.”
  • It was Chloe. After that phone call, she came over for the outing for my celebration of a new job. We ended up at a club.
  • The club was filled with people tonight as usual. Lots and I mean lots of people were on the dance floor, swaying and grinding to the music. I was seated at a part of the club, with Chloe beside me.
  • In spite of the loud music, I still told her about the phone call earlier.
  • “There’s nothing to break down, Clo. I’m just telling it like it is.” I said with all seriousness surroundings my features.
  • I watched as she brought out her phone. After a few seconds, she screamed her guts out.
  • “What is it?!” I asked, enthralled by how she had just screamed. She brought her phone nearer and showed me an article online. I recognized it to be a very popular magazine.
  • It was a picture of me in the exact outfit I took photos in. The headline: “WHO'S THIS NEW MODEL?”
  • “It’s indeed true, friend. You are famous! Omg! I’m so happy for you!” she cried out. Chloe dramatically raised my hands up, shrieking with so much happiness.
  • “We are definitely going to celebrate this more. We are going to get wasted.” She spilled out, eyeing me with her white flowery dress. I had gone for a blue dress shirt which was also from her closet.
  • This was because most of my clothes were worn-out and less suitable.
  • “Do we have to? How about ‘no shots' and a nice cozy movie?” I suggested, furrowing my brows at her.
  • “Wha-t? That’s definitely not happening for sure. Hang here, I would be right back.” She spat at me, giving me a wink and sashaying to the bar.
  • Chloe could just never change, could she? Those were my thoughts as I waited patiently for her to come back. As I did, I looked around.
  • The dance floor was very much occupied with lots of people grinding to the music.
  • It was the heat of the moment when I noticed this creepy looking guy looking at me. I calmly averted my gaze from his, knowing getting laid wasn’t my plan tonight.
  • I should be thinking of my human condition not romance or sex.
  • “Hi,” A highly descriptive rough voice groaned to me.
  • I looked up only to find the creepy fellow from earlier, directly in front of me.
  • “Do you need help with something?” I asked the stranger, arching a firm brow with a stern expression. He was obviously trying to get in my pants.
  • If he knew better, he'd back off.
  • “Actually, yes. I need help with my heart because it fell the moment it laid eyes on you.” He said. I wondered how many times he had used that on many women.
  • “Wait, do you think that stupid pick-up-line is actually going to work on me? You better back off, Mister before I lose my cool.” I spat out. Mum always said I had the most bad temper.
  • I expected him to go away. But, he didn’t. Instead, he took one of my hands.
  • “W-What are you doing?” I asked.
  • “Just come with me.” The stranger said.
  • “No, let me go! Now!” I exclaimed but he didn’t. Instead, the stranger's grip on me was firmer.
  • “You heard her.” A familiar voice chimed in from nowhere. At first, I thought that was my imagination. But, after I looked up, I knew it was definitely not my imagination.
  • It was definitely the man I hated with all my heart.
  • Liam James.
  • Yet there was something fascinating about him tonight. Something that aroused me.
  • No, I'm going to keep calm.
  • I'm not going to show I was affected.
  • “I need to show this bitch her place, man. Besides, who are you to order me to let her go?” The stranger questioned.
  • “Her boyfriend.” He answered the stranger. My mouth moved in shock at his words. Liam came forward, wrapping my tiny waist in his large arms. My body reacted in so much excitement at that which was surprising.
  • The stranger immediately let go of my hands, open mouthed at what Liam just said. I knew he stood no chance against Liam because he was taller and more muscular built than him.
  • Muscular built, huh?
  • My mind taunted.
  • “Oh, sorry. I didn’t know.” The stranger said, immediately backing away.
  • As he did, Liam’s hands still lingered around my waist for some reason. I cleared my voice hoping he would get a hint but he didn’t even bulge.
  • I immediately yanked his hands away from my waist.
  • Next, I scoffed loudly at him, about to walk away.
  • “I guess that’s your own way of saying thank you, red?” he asked, pulling me back with his hands.
  • “Why? I’m doing what you requested – ‘Never show up again' like you said that day. Do you have a problem with that now?” I asked him, narrowing my eyes at him.
  • “Oh, that. Off course not.” He said.
  • “I just felt you should have a sense of gratitude as a lady.” He added, straightening his suit. I mean, who wears suit to a club?
  • “And, who told you I was a lady, Liam?” I asked him, untangling his hands from my wrists. He just watched me in silence. He had this piercing brown eyes that could make one really self-conscious.
  • “This is for next time. I'll really appreciate it if you don’t touch me. Your touch stings!” I spat out venomously, not minding the fact that he just saved me from an obvious pervert.
  • I walked out of there, with an aim to leave that vicinity as quick as possible.
  • What were these new emotions I was feeling for Liam?
  • Urrgh!
