• A light tap knocks on the door. “Mr. Noble? May I please come in?” Shit. Opal’s voice trickles through the door. “I’m alone and unarmed. I’m also aware that you have Hayley, so please open up. I don’t want to fight. I just want to see if she’s okay.”
• “Opal?” Hayley’s soft voice whispers from beside me.
• And damn it. There is no way I can tell Hayley to get back into the bathroom and let me handle this. It’s written all over her shower-damp face that she wants to see the second in line to the Aris Hotel.
