Jason was sprawled on the couch in the apartment, downing the bottle of champagne he had bought to celebrate with Eleonora. He was lost in thoughts, wondering what he had done wrong for her to act that way. He knew he wasn't involved in Vittorio's scheme and hadn't left Ellis and Vittorio's marriage contract in plain sight for Eleonora to find. He took a deep breath, trying to calm the confusion in his mind, and then took another sip from the bottle, trying to numb his pain.
Suddenly, he heard the front door open and quickly got up, filled with hope that it was Eleonora returning to be with him. However, when he saw Ellis and Vittorio standing there, his heart sank. Eleonora wasn't there, and their presence indicated that something was about to happen.
