Chapter 16 : I'll Donate Blood

  • "I'll do it!"
  • "Take mine!"
  • Both Luo Jinyi and Lu Zhihuai spoke at the same time.
  • Lu Zhihuai couldn't help but turn his head, looking at Luo Jinyi in astonishment. She was covered in dirt, her hair was disheveled, and her hands were wrapped in gauze. She looked nothing like her usual radiant self.
  • "Take mine. If it weren't for me, Koko wouldn't be in this situation... Our blood types are compatible..."
  • The doctor glanced at Luo Jinyi and gestured for her to come in.
  • Watching Luo Jinyi's figure disappear, Lu Zhihuai was stunned. How did she know Koko's blood type? Could it be... she really was Luo Jinyi?
  • "Assistant Lin," Lu Zhihuai said coldly.
  • Assistant Lin quickly leaned in, and after Lu Zhihuai whispered something to him, Assistant Lin nodded in understanding.
  • "I'll take care of it right away."
  • As Moore watched Lu Zhihuai's icy expression, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.
  • Inside the operating room, Luo Jinyi saw Lu Keko lying on the surgical bed. Her little face was pale, blood stains covered her head, an oxygen tube was inserted in her nose, and various tubes were attached to her frail body. She looked incredibly fragile and pitiful.
  • "Lie down."
  • Luo Jinyi lay down and felt the thin needle pierce her skin and enter her vein. There was a slight tingling sensation, but she numbly stared at the ceiling, as if she couldn't feel any pain.
  • ...
  • After coming out of the operating room, Luo Jinyi felt a bit dizzy, and even walking became unsteady.
  • Moore saw Luo Jinyi come out and immediately rushed forward to support her. Lu Zhihuai's hand, which had quietly lifted, stiffened for a moment before slowly lowering.
  • "Niki, how are you?" Moore asked.
  • Luo Jinyi forced a pale smile and shook her head with difficulty. "I'm fine..."
  • "Niki Miss..." Lu Zhihuai looked up, his gaze filled with hidden gratitude. "Thank you..."
  • Moore took a step forward, standing between Lu Zhihuai and Luo Jinyi, and gave Lu Zhihuai a cold glance. He then turned to Luo Jinyi and said, "Niki, you've lost too much blood just now. Rest for a while, okay?"
  • But Luo Jinyi stubbornly shook her head. "No, I want to stay here and wait for Keko to wake up."
  • Moore knew he couldn't persuade Luo Jinyi, so he could only sigh and help her sit down.
  • Two hours later, the lights in the operating room went out. The doctor opened the door with a smile on his face. "Congratulations, the surgery was successful. Keko is no longer in danger."
  • Upon hearing this, a relieved smile appeared on Luo Jinyi's face. However... her eyelids became heavier and heavier, and eventually, she fainted, losing consciousness.
  • "Niki!" Moore's call was the last sound Luo Jinyi heard.
  • ...
  • "Don't worry, Miss Niki's body is fine, she just has a bit of anemia. She'll wake up soon." The doctor signed the medical record card with flourish and handed it to Moore.
  • Moore nodded.
  • "Now that Miss Niki is fine, I'll go check on Keko first," Lu Zhihuai said, nodding at Moore.
  • Moore made a sound of agreement, but a mocking smile appeared on his lips. After Lu Zhihuai left, Moore gently stroked Luo Jinyi's hair. "Niki, you're willing to protect the father of your child at all costs, even if it means not wanting to see me..."
  • After leaving the room, Lu Zhihuai's expression darkened. Assistant Lin appeared in front of him, panting, holding a document in his hand, which he handed to Lu Zhihuai.
  • "Mr. Lu, the thing you wanted..."
  • Lu Zhihuai opened the document, and it clearly stated a few words: DNA paternity test report, tested individuals: Niki, Lu Keko!
  • Just as he was about to flip it open, a weak voice from behind suddenly sounded, "Mr. Lu, what are you doing?!"
