Chapter 6 A Son's Gift

• Erica rolled her eyes as she heard the familiar sound of laughter outside. Her son, Jamie, had recently come home from college to spend the holidays with her. Since she was divorced and lonely, any company was welcome, even though it was early morning and late evening company alone.
• She kept reminding herself that her son was now an adult who lived alone in college. There was no need to treat him like a child and by the way, she had no idea the things he did in college.
• "Coming," she called when she heard the expected knock on the door.
