• Clarisse pushed him away as she jumped up, her heart was racing and she felt uncomfortable to be that close to him but she immediately regretted it as she began to think that might have upset him and what if he beat her up like Victor did.
• Christian reached out to her just then and she jumped back trembling, dodging her face with her arms, this act surprised him but then he clenched his fist and gritted his teeth.
