Chapter 10 Ethereal Goddess

  • “Don’t worry, Mr. Pierce. I’ll immediately notify the media to remove all the press releases!” Clinton resembled a student who had screwed up as he scrambled to atone for his mistakes.
  • He didn’t know why Dominic’s voice had appeared in the audio. In short, it was a mystery that he couldn’t seem to unravel.
  • “That’s not enough. Prosecute all of them for defamation!” Dominic added in a commanding voice as he supported himself with both hands on his desk.
  • “Yes, Sir!”
  • Noelle Hooper? Dominic wasn’t interested in the entertainment news. All he knew about Noelle was that she was the resident who remained as stubborn as a mule! She even dared to drag my name through the mud! How kind of her!
  • “Get the car, Clinton!” Dominic unhappily tugged on his tie as he picked up his dark-colored coat. He was going to meet Noelle Hooper in person.
  • A long series of cars came to a halt. The door to a black Maybach opened and out came a pair of black leather shoes. Following it was a figure clad in a perfectly tailored dark suit. The pair of black shades that were resting on Dominic’s nose bridge made his angular face look sharper than it already was.
  • After getting out of the car, Clinton led a group of subordinates to follow, but Dominic waved for them to stop.
  • He had always preferred to be low-key, especially when it came to scandals like these; he was increasingly unwilling to appear with a large entourage.
  • When Dominic arrived at Shining Entertainment, Noelle had only just untangled herself from several groups of reporters, releasing a long sigh of exhaustion.
  • The scandal between Dominic and her was rather accidental. However, as soon as news of it had spread, her value instantly skyrocketed. Even her boss had started to see her in a different light. Not only had Sophia’s office been upgraded, but rather Noelle was also even assigned an assistant.
  • The assistant helped Sophia in setting up her new office. In the lounge, Noelle stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows with a wine glass in her hand, in deep contemplation.
  • To deal with the media today, Noelle had deliberately chosen a chic red dress with a slanted neckline, making her look like an ethereal goddess. Her long curtain of raven black hair was casually draped to one side, revealing an elegant fair shoulder. Just the view of her back was enough to destroy cities and topple empires.
  • The door wasn’t closed. As Dominic curled his fingers to knock on it, his breath hitched upon seeing the back of her figure.
  • However, he was Dominic Pierce after all. Scheming women like her never left a good impression on him.
  • He rapped on the door twice, prompting Noelle to swivel around in surprise.
  • The moment their gazes collided, both of their hearts thumped violently against their chests.
  • Red was the boldest color, and only those with exquisite facial features could pull the color off. And Noelle had managed to do exactly that, somehow looking both sexy and elegant at the same time in the red dress, greatly surprising him.
  • Black was the most melancholic color, but the custom-tailored suit looked regal and elegant on Dominic.
  • “Have we met before?”
  • Both of them simultaneously asked the same question.
  • Noelle broke into a smile first. Her smile was full of charm and radiance.
  • Sophia had made several appointments with reporters for her today. She remembered that there was still one media reporter who had yet to arrive.
  • Picking up the reporter’s business card from the table, Noelle smiled.
  • “You must be the reporter from Star Media. Are you also here to ask me about the scandal between Dominic Pierce and me?” Noelle sighed. She felt exasperated, but she still pulled herself together and gracefully sat down on the sofa, positioning her slender legs to one side in a ladylike manner. “Alright. Ask away!”
  • “Uhm...” Before coming in, Dominic had planned to use the most vicious words that he could think of to humiliate this woman who didn’t seem to know her place in the world.
  • It’s her? She’s the woman whom I rescued previously, the one who joked about offering up her body as payment; she is also the one who’d saved Declan from a near-death accident.
  • In addition to that, we supposedly have a scandal together, and she’s even rumored to be my girlfriend?
  • Interesting.
  • The woman didn’t seem to recognize him, but Dominic smiled wordlessly, peering at her with intrigue shining in his eyes.
  • When Noelle saw that he wasn’t saying anything, she thought that he was a rookie, hence the reserved attitude. She instantly became sympathetic toward him.
  • “Well, you’re late. Several reporters have already been here, so when you leave later, they would’ve probably released tons of articles already.” Noelle sighed again as she stared at Dominic’s elegant hands. “I’m about to start. Aren’t you going to begin recording?”
  • This guy is quite easy on the eyes. It’s a shame he isn’t reporter material. If he’s an actor though, he’d instantly crush all those talentless people who depend on their face value to survive. But... Noelle peered closer at Dominic. Why does he look so familiar?
  • Has he appeared in my dreams before?
  • Wait... My dreams? Noelle broke out in cold sweat. What the hell am I thinking?
  • Dominic’s lips tugged into another cryptic smile. To play along with her, he took out his phone and opened the camera function, aiming it at Noelle.
  • “Mr. Pierce and I met in the hospital. I fell ill once, and he was the one who saved me and sent me to the hospital. Once I recovered, I naturally thanked Mr. Pierce for his kindness. Mr. Pierce, however, said that I needed to be more sincere in showing him my gratitude. So I said, do you want me to offer up my body as payment? Haha... Of course, I was merely joking, but Mr. Pierce took it seriously. He started pursuing me since then. He sent me flowers and gifts every day, surprising me at every turn. But as all of you are aware, I’ve been hurt before, and I don’t want to get into a relationship so soon, thus... I’m still considering...”
  • Noelle realized how smooth her made-up lie had come out. She didn’t even falter once and she simply allowed her mouth to do all the work for her.
  • The previous reporters had asked her too many difficult questions, to which she had given vague responses. She neither admitted nor denied her relationship with Dominic. In short, she had left them all in suspense.
  • The only time she had spoken in such an unbridled manner was in front of this man. Perhaps he had a trustworthy face that made Noelle confident that he wouldn’t write things that were against her favor.
  • As for the protagonist in her story, Dominic Pierce... Hehe... He brought this upon himself by wanting to demolish my home, sending his assistant to pester me repeatedly. A tit for tat.
  • Noelle had come to this decision after making up the lie to deal with Steven Miller yesterday, thinking that she might as well put it to good use.
  • The man recorded what she said on his phone in an earnest manner. After he was done, he smiled with satisfaction.
  • “Don’t you have anything to ask me?” Noelle was slightly puzzled. This was the first time that she had met such a quiet reporter.
  • Dominic shook his head. “Not for now.”
  • Noelle was slightly disappointed. He... really isn’t suited to be a reporter.
  • “Are you interested in becoming an actor?” she blurted out.
  • “What?”
  • Noelle stood up and scanned Dominic up and down with an appreciative gleam in her eyes. Wide shoulders, narrow hips, long legs, and a handsome face can bring women to their knees. It would be a shame if he didn’t become an actor.
  • “You’re very handsome. If you switch careers and become an actor, you might be able to reach unimaginable heights.” Noelle couldn’t bring herself to tell him that he wasn’t reporter material, so she uttered it in a roundabout manner.
  • With her standing so close to him, Dominic lowered his gaze to study her enchanting face. The skin of Noelle’s face was smooth and clear, just like a newborn baby’s. Gazing at her this close made his heart flutter, and there was that familiar fragrance again. Dominic took in a whiff of it and instantly felt heat pooling in his lower region.
  • “Do you really think that I’m handsome?” Noelle’s compliment made Dominic delighted for some reason.
  • “Of course. You’re leagues ahead of all of the popular flower boys!” Noelle assured him with a sincere expression. When her eyes met his obsidian ones, her heart sped; she quickly distanced herself from him.
