Chapter 33 Defend In Vain

• Jonelle had suggested during the meeting that one Shard always maintain guard at the temple at all times. Thankfully, during the time of the Saintess, she had instructed quite strongly that the temple be constructed with both one opening. To lead by example, Jonelle had taken the first watch, which started from one o’clock to six in the morning.
• The night was uneventful. No noise except the hooting of the owls. By morning, she was more than ready for Kane to resume guard. She stood and stretched.
• Suddenly, she sensed a dense point of soul energy. Too strong for an ordinary human but too weak for a Shard.
