Chapter 8 Bullied
- Lena trembled as small whimpers escaped her trembling lips.
- The four maids surrounded her, towering over her small petite body, with their faces covered with a hate she couldn't understand.
- She had tried to sign her questions but they would likely not understand her sign language, yet they didn't give her a chance to write them.
- Just then a sharp slap landed on Lena's shoulder,it made knees buckled slightly, but she fought to stay upright, her teary green eyes darting between the women.
- "Don't just stand there blinking like a fool," Brooklyn snapped, slapping her again, but harder this time. "You're only pretending to be mute, aren't you? Say something bitch."
- Lena shook her head frantically, her hands trembling as she gestured desperately to convince them.
- "I have seen real people who are mute none of them act like you. Girl, just put off the show already, tell us why you are really here."
- Zara added.
- Lena signed with her fingers.
- "I am telling the truth, if only you can understand, please tell me what I did wrong. Please...please, I am so sorry if I offend you...I am sorry ... .I don't have any idea what I did wrong".
- She hit her forehead demonstrating desperately, as uncontrollable tears rolled freely down her flushed cheeks, silent pleas written all over her face.
- The maids glanced at one another, then Zara scoffed, unimpressed.
- "Look at her, acting so pitiful. Does she think that will make us like her?"
- "I know your types very well, acting like an Angel, who can't hurt a fly, trying to get favors and when you have what you are aiming for, you will show your true color".
- Brooklyn said.
- Lena shook her head, pleading with her hands.
- A hand pushed her hard from the back and she fell into Brooklyn's arms who in return tossed her back like an object.
- "Get your sick ginger hands off me".
- She barked.
- Edith held Lena and forced her head up.
- "Look at me. Can't you fight back? Yes, you are outnumbered but at least put up a fight, quit acting like you are so weak and fragile. Like a doll that can be broken by a slightest mishandling, we are not men, we don't get aroused by your vulnerability".
- Lena looked down shamefully,sobbing.
- "She does look like a doll with that hair and those wide, green eyes. No wonder he picked her."Ruth added.
- "I hate bitches like her, so cringe".
- Brooklyn hissed.
- Ruth carried the tray of food that she brought from the table where she had placed it and walked towards Lena.
- As soon as she was Infront of her, she smirked and tilted the tray until the entire meal crashed onto the floor.
- The plate shattered.
- Sauce splattered across the floor.
- Lena flinched, her face was already red from the ceaseless crying and mental torture.
- "Oops.Looks like you'll have to eat it from the floor, sweetheart. Welcome once again."
- Ruth said with a wicked grin.
- Lena shook her head, her hands moving rapidly to demonstrate her question.
- Why? What did I do?
- But before she could finish signing, Zara and Brooklyn shoved her forward.
- A sharp cry caught in her throat as she hit the hard floor, pain bursting through her knee and ankle. She could feel a bruise under her knee.
- Brooklyn grabbed a fistful of her hair and pressed her head down, forcing her face into the spilled food.
- Lena cried as the food smeared against her skin, the strong aroma filled her nose. She shut her eyes quickly, but the sticky mess clung to her lashes.
- She tried to push herself up, but a sharp kick landed on her back, another hit her waist, making her gasp in pain.
- She struggled again, but the kicks kept coming,it was useless for her to fight back.
- Suddenly, they heard a sound from the hallway, footsteps.
- The maids paused and glanced at each other, nervously.
- Someone's coming.
- There is no where to hide.
- Lena was still lying down there trembling on the cold floor, muffling her silent sobs, then the door opened.
