Chapter 65 Flashback

• Charles, you should get yourself a wife, you are old enough now, Mr. Joe voice could be heard. “I want to hold my grandchildren” Mrs. Zoe added. Charles walked out of the room, he tired of having this discussion over and over again, “now is not the time, you keep saying that” Mr. Joe yelled. Charles could hear outside. “You better marry that girl, we arrange for you” Joe increase his voice. Charles enters his car and drove off, he came back late, his parents will be sleeping by now, he thought, he opened the door, he saw his parents having drinks with another family, he saw a young girl, “it her again” he thought, he wanted to leave when his father called him “Charles, you dare not move an inch” he turns back, “sit” he pointed at the only free empty seat, close to the young lady. Charles sat down, his face wasn't pleasing. He could hear laughter, “he takes from you” the other man said. "Yeah" Joe replied laughing. “They will make a good couple with beautiful children” Mr. Zoe added. “You guys should know each other better” Mr. Joe said, Telling them to take a stroll. Charles bounces out of his seat, the young lady follow him, receiving a go ahead from Zoe. She checked her phone. “What to say to your lover”. She memories the words on it. She follows Charles, who was walking really fast. She runs to catch up with him. “I am Anita” she introduced herself. Charles didn't respond. He continues walking until he gets to his car. He stops, “why don't you get it already” he shouted, “I don't feel anything for you”. “I do feel something” Mr. Anita responded, touch her heart, “we could learn to love each other” she added. Mr. Charles looks at her, I won't be a victim to such barbarian act. He enters his car and drove off. Anita watches him. She stays outside for three hours before coming back. “He has left, she enters smiling” Mr. Joe was happy.
• Charles phone rings while he was driving, he picked the call and place it on loudspeaker. “Charles” the voice stress it. “My darling, how are you “, “I am fine” she answered. They talk for a while before discussing the problem at hand. “Maya, my parents have introduced me to someone” Charles said. Maya was quiet before she finally said something. “Is this a break-up call”. “I will never do such a thing Maya, you are the love of my life”, Maya laughed, I wanted to hear that she chuckled. “I will come up with a plan soon”, he said, cutting the call. He stops his car, they will never understand. He scrolls through his phone, he went to graduation pictures in George. He zoomed in, he saw Maya, she wasn't looking at the camera, she was staring at him. He smiles. Charles gets out of the car, he walked to a nearby restaurant. He ordered something. he sat on the free table, place outside the restaurant. He remembers when his family were still trying to build their business, they have little money to spare, so he was sent to George on scholarship, he gained scholarship on different schools, but he chose to attend the one on George. Maya and Charles stayed in the same neighborhood but her parents' company was folding up, they decided to leave for their hometown. That was the time Charles spoke to her, he was lonely at home, he saw Maya family packing, he has been watching at Maya for a long time now, he doesn't know how to approach her, "I should help them" he thought. He came and offered to help them pack. After he was done, Maya was sent to give him a can of cola drink. "Thanks" he collected it. “Where are you guys going” he asked. “George, my hometown” Maya said, it was clear that she wasn't happy.
• Charles went to George, his aim was to get closer to Maya. That was possible through the help of his friends and his popularity he suddenly gains. Carlos had a crush on Sarah, that didn't work out, Carlos was the quiet type, he always missed his luck. “I wonder what those two are doing now”. Maya had a good friend that she introduced to Charles. Cecilia meet my friend Charles. Sometimes he uses Cecilia to get to Maya. Maya didn't have a cellphone then. Cecilia was of great help. “You know you could tell her your real name, Khalid” Maya told Charles. “I prefer the family” he usually says.
