Chapter 13 Lingo
- With a deep breath, I read over it again, satisfied that it doesn’t say anything it shouldn’t. Then, I choose an envelope from the selection on the shelf. I don’t see any red ones, but that’s fine. I don’t want to alarm her by giving her a reminder of how it was when I left yesterday. I settle on blue and slide the letter inside, but I don’t seal it as I remember that King Canaan warned me my letters would be read.
- I jot my mother’s address on the back of the envelope and am about to leave when there’s a knock on the door. “Yes?”
- Justin steps inside with a smile. “Hello, Bexley. How are you?”
