Chapter 2 Let's Go Out

  • On her bed, Erin was deep staring at the white ceiling. This night couldn't be any different from all the lonely nights she had in the villa, or it might have been different since she just attempted to kill herself and offered sex to her new bodyguard.
  • She covered her eyes with her right arm trying to forget her foolishness earlier.
  • Not that she minds what will he thinks of her but she was embarrassed the moment Xander stepped out of her room. She was far from that, even if Will is almost not home in the villa she could not think of disgracing her family and that makes Will's false accusation to be hateful.
  • She released a big sigh and wished she could sleep sooner. Erin always sleeps late waiting for her husband even if Will is on his business trips, she waited for his bedtime in a way that they are still connected even if they're away from each other. How pathetic she felt the moment she learned that Will never feel and think the same about her.
  • It was one of the painful memories, but Erin did not anymore cry. She was tired of it. Weeping underwater will be her last, she promised to herself before sleep come and help her at peace temporarily.
  • The next morning, Erin decided to just stay in her room. Not that she has a company to run or people who will look for her absence, not even her husband or her own dad in the matter will look for her.
  • A light knock outside her door woke her from her absent state of being.
  • "Mrs. Ferguson I bring your breakfast." It was Xander.
  • Erin almost forgot about him and she immediately remembered about her offer to him last night. Good god, what was I thinking? Her internal remark.
  • She decided not to answer him. She can go down and eat if she wanted to. How can he treat her like a disabled person that can't go out and eat on her own?
  • Erin looked at the door with irritation as if the man was in front of him, then the door burst opened.
  • "I didn't tell you to come in." She deadpanned.
  • "I'm sorry but you are my responsibility and part of it is to see you eat." He explained and placed her food on the vacant table.
  • "The last time I checked I'm still capable to go out of my room and prepare my own food."
  • "It's already past breakfast, Mrs. Ferguson just in case you didn't know the time." He reasoned and Erin laughed bitterly in return.
  • "Wow, Will will be so proud of you. You are doing your job very well." She commended.
  • Xander just nodded, he knew it was just sarcasm that needs no reply.
  • "What else are you willing to do for him, Xander?" Erin asked as she gets up from the bed.
  • Her satin nightgown effortlessly dropped on the floor and lightly flowed as she took her step towards the table. She didn't fail to notice how his Adam's apple moved up and down the moment she passed by near him.
  • Erin halted her step and turned to face him, "Don't you call me again, Mrs. Ferguson."
  • Will's last name is something she should be happy about, but things are already ugly that she hated it.
  • "Again, what else are you willing to do for him, Xander?" She asked again, this time she already took her seat and picked the utensils.
  • "Okay, I get it. I'll take your silence as your loyalty to him." She lazily stabbed the omelet with the fork.
  • "Just leave. I don't need an audience while I'm eating." She said and Xander took his steps out of her room.
  • Once in the doorway, he stopped and contemplate for thirty seconds, "I work for you, not for your husband."
  • Erin stopped at that and laughed again bitterly. How she wished she can laugh out of happiness someday.
  • "Don't be ridiculous, he was the one who hired you! You are all the same!" She spat.
  • "Will did not hire me." His reply while looking at her eyes.
  • "Then who hired you?"
  • "It's your father." He said without falter. His hands were in his pockets while waiting for her reaction.
  • "My father? Why?" She asked because she can't believe it.
  • "It's too early to explain, but trust me everything will fall into its right place."
  • "I don't think it's wise to use trust because the last time I trusted someone I was betrayed, including my father." She whispered the last part.
  • "I know." Xander's reply.
  • Erin gulp at that. What could he know, her infidelity that only she knows the truth?
  • "How much do you know?" She gave him a challenging look.
  • "Everything you could have imagined." He looked at her returning the challenge, but it was too vague to Erin and she doesn't want to explain her side either.
  • "You said earlier that you work for me, right?" She asked instead and Xander just nodded at her.
  • "Then let's go out."
