Chapter 1 Broken Marriage
- "Aurora Sinclair, let's get a divorce."
- A not - overly thick divorce agreement was tossed onto Aurora Sinclair's chest. The force wasn't strong, yet it felt like a hefty hammer pounding hard on her chest cavity.
- "Is it because of Sofia Moretti?" A hint of self - mockery welled up in Aurora Sinclair's eyes. The dull ache in her chest made her feel as if she could barely stand. "Ryan Miller, what on earth am I lacking compared to her!"
- "Do you even deserve to be compared with her?" The disgust in the man's eyes was blatant. "I originally thought you were a woman with high moral standards and I also admired your work ability. But I never expected that you were just scheming to get into my bed! Aurora Sinclair, I've had enough of you these past few years. Name your price."
- "Name my price?" She clenched her fists so tightly that her fingernails were almost digging into her flesh. Suddenly, she took a deep breath, stepped up to Ryan Miller, and grabbed his tie forcefully. "Ryan Miller, what exactly does our marriage mean to you!"
- The first time she met Ryan Miller was at a celebration banquet. As a special guest, Ryan Miller helped her fend off the lecherous advances of several old men, and she fell head - over - heels in love with him at first sight.
- His parents thought highly of her. They believed she was extremely talented and had a gentle and proper personality. They even drugged their son and fabricated the scene of them having had a relationship, forcing Ryan Miller to marry Aurora Sinclair. Little did she know that all this was because of his first love, Sofia Moretti, who was studying in Italy at that time. She was nothing more than a decorative Mrs. Miller.
- Even when he barged into her room drunk and forced himself on her, he kept calling out Sofia Moretti's name.
- Only she was naive enough to think that she could replace Sofia Moretti. For two years, she had been submissive to Ryan Miller. No matter how much he sneered at her or treated her coldly, she always held onto the hope that things might turn around.
- Seeing her in a daze, the coldness in Ryan Miller's eyes intensified. He raised his hand and tightly grasped her jaw. "Don't force me to be ruthless. I'm discussing this with you now. If you're being stubborn, then I..."
- "I agree to the divorce. I don't need any property division." Aurora Sinclair looked at Ryan Miller indifferently, having lost all hope in him. "We can go get the divorce certificate right away."
- The big, bony hand slowly released its grip. Ryan Miller stared at the somewhat desolate expression on the woman's face, a bit stunned, and squinted his eyes slightly.
- Wasn't she supposed to make exorbitant demands? This woman who, in order to marry him, didn't hesitate to drug his drink and scheme to get into his bed... The cold and hateful glint in Aurora Sinclair's eyes was rather glaring. Ryan Miller finally came to his senses and said indifferently, "As you wish."
- The black Rolls - Royce sped along and soon arrived at the Civil Affairs Bureau. In just a few minutes, two divorce certificates were placed in front of them. In the photo, she looked haggard. Compared to the noble - looking man standing beside her, she seemed like a hysterical middle - aged woman. They truly didn't match.
- "I'll transfer you a fixed amount of money every month after the divorce..."
- "No need." Aurora Sinclair stared firmly at Ryan Miller, threw his divorce certificate into his arms, and suddenly raised her hand, slapping him hard across the face.
- "Slap - " The sharp sound echoed.
- "I don't want to have anything to do with you anymore! This slap is for the years of my youth that were wasted on you, a heartless man!" Then, she turned around and walked out without looking back.
- Ryan Miller didn't chase after her. He stood there, holding the maroon - covered divorce certificate, looking at the woman's back with a heavy gaze. Suddenly, he felt a dull pain in his chest.
- As the sky gradually darkened and the lights of thousands of households came on, Aurora Sinclair had no idea where to go. She just wandered aimlessly on the streets. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen and staggered, falling in the middle of the road.
- Accompanied by a harsh screeching of tires, a blinding white light flashed.
- Three years later...
- "The flight LA686 from New York to Nova City has landed." The sweet voice of the ground - crew attendant echoed in the airport hall. People in a hurry would steal glances at a beautiful woman from time to time. In her arms was a lovely little one, looking like a soft and adorable dumpling.
- It was hard to tell the woman's age. Although the clothes she was wearing were not from well - known brands, they were full of design sense. Coupled with her innate noble temperament, she naturally attracted a lot of attention.
- "Oh my god, this young lady and her little brother are so good - looking..." a young girl couldn't help but whisper.
- Eric Sinclair turned his head seriously and said to the girl in a milky voice, "Sister, this beautiful lady is my mom, not my sister."
- "Such a young and beautiful mom?" The girl looked surprised.
- Aurora Sinclair politely smiled at the girls, then walked out of the airport with Little Cutie, who had a curious look on his face.
- "Why didn't Uncle Ethan come back with us?" Little Cutie's innocent voice rang out.
- "Uncle Ethan is very busy with work." Aurora Sinclair waved to hail a taxi while slightly pursing her lips.
- Back then, after her divorce, she fainted on the roadside. Fortunately, a man sent her to the hospital. If it weren't for Ethan Walker, she really didn't know what to do with Eric Sinclair on her own.
- When she first learned that she was pregnant, she felt like the sky was falling. It was Ethan Walker who took her to the United States and helped her take care of Dodo. Over the past three years, he had taken good care of the mother and son. He even made her the chief designer of his company. It could be said that without Ethan Walker, there would be no her today.
- The taxi driver enthusiastically helped her put the luggage in the trunk. Aurora Sinclair thanked the driver, picked up Little Cutie, and got into the back seat of the car.
- "Mom, is my dad also here?" Little Cutie suddenly asked.
- "Dodo..." Aurora Sinclair pursed her lips, trying to figure out how to answer. But Little Cutie reached out and held her finger, saying, "If mom doesn't want to talk about it, Dodo won't ask anymore."
- Eric Sinclair blinked his bright big eyes, melting people's hearts. "Dodo is fine with just mom. The people I love the most are mom and Uncle Ethan!"
- "Mom also loves you the most, baby!" A bright smile spread across Aurora Sinclair's face as she gave her son a big kiss. "Mom will take you home first and then go to a job fair."
- Little Cutie nodded obediently. "I'll be good at home."
- When they arrived at the apartment that Ethan Walker had prepared for the mother and son, Aurora Sinclair freshened up briefly and then left home with her bag.
- Before returning to her home country, she had submitted her resumes to several companies she was interested in. Today, she happened to have an interview.
- "Virtue Company..."
- "Hello, I'm here for the interview. I'm Aurora Sinclair."
- The HR looked up and gave her a polite smile, then took the resume from her hand. The more he read, the more admiration showed in his eyes.
- "Ah, Miss Aurora won the Starry International Design Award. You're really excellent."
- Aurora Sinclair smiled modestly. "You're overpraising me."
- "We've discussed the salary before. If you have no objections, let's sign the contract now."
- The HR handed over a contract. For a talent like Aurora Sinclair, the company was determined to sign her even if they had to offer a higher salary.
- Aurora Sinclair picked up a pen and quickly signed her name. Virtue Company satisfied her in every aspect. Especially, the company had an affiliated nursery, which meant she could bring Little Cutie to work with her.
- "How did the interview go?"
- Suddenly, a very familiar voice came from behind. Aurora Sinclair stiffened, and the pen in her hand slipped. But a long, slender hand caught the pen before it rolled under the table.
