Chapter 4 The Contract

  • CHAPTER 4
  • The Contract
  • Narrated by Alyson
  • He who loves you well, will not harm you
  • I start to break into a cold sweat, and I think this is when I begin to realize that my fate is cruel, uncertain and insecure.
  • My father, signals with his hand for me to go to them, I go, standing in front of the table where they are sitting.
  • - Sit down, what are you waiting for? - he speaks rudely.
  • I sit down in the only chair available, next to the handsome man.
  • - Here then is the contract, the rules are very clear and will have to be followed to the letter Mr. Kevin Macwire. There is also the medical certificate, that she is healthy and pure, no man has yet touched her.
  • - Can I just ask you one question? - the handsome man speaks up, while signing said sheet of paper they call a contract.
  • - Sure, ask.
  • - Why did you want to sell your daughter?
  • Now that's a question I'd like to hear too.
  • He suddenly becomes stiff, but then he says shit, of course.
  • - Because she is a good-for-nothing and now that her mother is dead, I don't want anything to do with her. I just want to live my life without hindrance.
  • He answers that, but I find him strange, clumsy.
  • He's hiding something, he's not being truthful.
  • Kevin finishes signing and gets up, ending the conversation.
  • - All right, let's go then. - He looks at me, but I can't move, I'm terrified.
  • "Let's go" , he says, but where to?
  • I look at my father, with tears in my eyes.
  • - Please dad, don't do this, I don't want to go, don't sell me, like I'm a commodity, please dad.
  • I get up from my chair and kneel at his feet, grabbing his legs, humiliating myself.
  • He shakes me, as if I were a dog full of diseases.
  • - GET OUT, GO AWAY AT ONCE. - he shouts at me.
  • The one from the housekeeper, Elise, comes to me, lifts me up and whispers in my ear.
  • - There's nothing you can do, that will change his mind, nothing Alyson. I'll give you some advice before you go, whenever you don't like it, imagine you're with the one you really wanted to be with, trick your mind, it will be less painful the whole process. But let me tell you, you were very lucky, for your first time. - she says this, eating that Kevin guy with her eyes.
  • She winks at me again and gently pushes me over to the man who is going to take me.
  • I look at her face that smiles fake, I don't understand anything she is talking about.
  • I then look full of hatred at my father.
  • - Sooner or later, I'll get revenge for what you did to my mother and to me. I swear, you're going to burn in hell and you can be sure, I'm the one sending you there.
  • - Go, trouble, go, and don't ever come back.
  • I turn my back and walk out of there.
  • The man comes up behind me and holds my arm.
  • - You don't plan to run away, do you?
  • - If I said no, I'd be lying, I want to run away, far away from everything and everyone.
  • He looks at me, with a look that I can't decipher.
  • - Let's get out of here. - he says only.
  • And I go, into the unknown, into a future that awaits me, that I have the feeling will hurt me to death.
  • Denmark
  • Narrated by Alyson
  • Life is an eternal cycle of endings and new beginnings
  • After packing all the things I wanted to take with me, under the supervision of those two security guards, I go downstairs and leave that house where I suffered so much, I leave without looking back.
  • A cursed house, where both my dear mother and I were treated like dirt by the man who was supposed to protect, love and care for us.
  • But that monster did exactly the opposite.
  • I just wanted to know what my mother and I did, for him to start hating us like he did.
  • I get into a car that is parked near the entrance of the house and has the door already open.
  • Inside is the one Kevin, Kevin Macwire.
  • He fiddles with his cell phone, not paying much attention to me.
  • If it's always like this, I'll go unnoticed.
  • - Where are you taking me? - I ask curious while the car is already moving.
  • I am inside a car with a complete stranger, whom I know nothing about, only his name and nothing else.
  • - We are going to Denmark.
  • He speaks only, continuing to look at his cell phone.
  • Denmark is a Scandinavian country that covers the Jutland peninsula and several islands. The nation is connected to Sweden by the Øresund Bridge.
  • Copenhagen, its capital, is home to royal palaces and the colorful port of Nyhavn, as well as the Tivoli amusement park and the statue of "The Little Mermaid."
  • Odense is the hometown of the writer Hans Christian Andersen, with a medieval center of cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses.
  • I have always wanted to visit Denmark, but not under these circumstances.
  • I will say no more, because we arrived at the airport and took a private plane.
  • The trip is fast, not even an hour, and then we get into a chauffeur-driven car and the trip takes more or less 30 minutes.
  • Finally, we enter a huge estate, I hear the big gates closing behind the car and my heart squeezes again so hard that I have the feeling I'm going to faint.
  • He seems to understand.
  • - Relax, I'm not a Serial Killer. - he says, scaring me.
  • - A Serial Killer, you don't say you are. - I say perturbed.
  • He laughs and opens the car door, getting out right away.
  • And now what? What awaits me inside this huge house?
  • He opens the door on my side and bends down a little to face me.
  • - Are you going to stay there?
  • - Can I stay? - I ask with a glimmer of hope.
  • - No, of course not. - He reaches out his hand to help me out.
  • I take a deep breath, give him my hand, and get out of the car.
