Chapter 8 A Harsh Lesson
- Never!
- However, there are rumors about an odd werewolf from another pack who, in order to avoid social interactions and escape from a nagging partner, pretended to be mute for decades.
- It seems that Darcy is the second odd werewolf.
- Tyler was utterly impressed by Darcy's extraordinary intelligence.
- “What should we have for breakfast? I don't have any money on me,” Darcy asked.
- “Mom gave me... us some money to buy some bread later.” Tyler pulled out the cash from his pocket and handed it to her. “If you want something else to eat, that's okay too.”
- Of course, Darcy knew that she wasn't entitled to any part of the breakfast money.
- But she didn't really care. “Let's go with bread.”
- “Did you go for a run this morning?” Tyler asked.
- “Yeah, I'm trying to lose weight.”
- “You'd look really beautiful if you lost some weight,” Tyler said, turning his head away in embarrassment.
- Darcy observed his reddening ears, a smirk playing on her lips.
- He's quite adorable.
- Upon entering the school gates, the two of them split up, each heading toward their respective academic buildings.
- For Bloodshade, who was accustomed to a life constantly on the edge, filled with danger and strife, the tranquility and safety of the campus was a peculiar place indeed.
- The moment Darcy appeared, the once noisy classroom fell eerily silent as everyone turned to look at her in unison.
- Afterward, whispers filled the air.
- “Fatso is already back at school. Seems like she didn't get hurt too badly.”
- “Do you know how she fell? She was so flustered when she saw Matteo's handsome face while descending the stairs that she missed a step and tumbled down.”
- “I know, I know, I was right there too. There was this massive bang. I even thought it was an earthquake!”
- “If it were me, I'd be too embarrassed to show up at school.”
- “Hey, she's looking at us. Falling down seems to have boosted her courage. Not only is she pushing back her bangs to reveal her face, but she also dares to look at us now.”
- “But hey, despite her size, she has quite attractive features. I never noticed them before.”
- “Stop disgusting me.”
- Whispers turned into loud discussions and mockery.
- Darcy swept her gaze over each person present.
- These individuals had, in one way or another, bullied the original host in the past.
- Darcy, I'll settle your scores for you!
- Darcy took a seat, her gaze falling on the desk that had been vandalized with malicious graffiti. Her eyes were icy cold as she swept her gaze over those people once again.
- As her gaze met with the others, they gradually fell silent under its intimidating force. Eventually, the room was completely silent. An inexplicable chill crept up their necks, leaving them with a suffocating sensation.
- Everyone exchanged glances, finding the behavior of the usual pushover quite unusual today. It was a stark contrast to her typical submissive demeanor, always with her head bowed and back hunched.
- Morning classes began.
- Darcy pulled out the textbook that had been maliciously torn apart, yet she didn't exactly lose her temper over it.
- After finishing the first class without any issues, Darcy got up and went to the restroom.
- Inside the cubicle, Darcy heard rustling noises from outside the door. When she wanted to open it, the door had already been blocked from the outside.
- The few people outside the door couldn't help but laugh as they imagined the miserable scene of her being locked in a cubicle.
- “Fatso never learns her lesson. She still dares to use the restroom in school. Seems like she's not scared of being locked in.”
- “Quick, go fetch a bucket of water.”
- “The water's here.”
- The two of them were on the verge of dousing Darcy with the bucket of water they were holding aloft between them. It seemed inevitable that the water would come crashing down on her.
- Suddenly, the door was forcefully kicked open from the inside.
- The force of it harshly smacked into the two girls who stood unknowingly in its path. The bucket of water they had been holding aloft ended up drenching them from head to toe.
- “Ah!”
- A cry of pain, the sound of a collision, followed by the rush of water echoed throughout the restroom.
- The two girls were sent reeling backward by the impact of the door, colliding with a group of onlookers behind them. They all tumbled down onto the wet floor, their dignity lost amidst the crescendo of shrieks and screams.
- With a lazy flick of her toe, Darcy slowly kicked open the rebounding door. Her hands were tucked into the pockets of her jacket as she looked down disdainfully at the few individuals soaked to the bone on the floor.
- She slowly lifted her gaze, looking toward the only one spared, Janelle Yeats, the most popular girl among the boys at the school.
- When Lilia came to the restroom, she stumbled upon this scene. The moment she saw Darcy in the cubicle, she turned and bolted without a second thought. She ran as fast as she could, fearing that if she was a second slower, Darcy would notice her, and then everyone would know that she was her elder sister.
- Darcy watched Lilia run off but didn't mind. She stepped out of the cubicle, striding over a few girls on the ground without a second thought. Her icy gaze landed on Janelle.
- The color drained slightly from Janelle's face due to the shock she had received.
- She had grown accustomed to bullying Darcy, but this was the first time she saw Darcy fight back. As she watched Darcy approach her step by step, a stark contrast to the weak and helpless Darcy of the past, she couldn't help but retreat.
- Eventually, her back was pressed against the door. There was nowhere else to retreat.
- “W-What are you doing?”
- Before she could finish her sentence, Darcy's fist came hurtling toward her face.
- “Ah!”
- Janelle let out a startled cry, tightly shutting her eyes.
