Chapter 5

  • Natalia:
  • I woke up to the sound of my alarm ringing.
  • Knowing that I had work to attend to made this a whole lot better, and though I technically was supposed to be off for my ‘honeymoon’, I didn’t think that it was necessary anymore.
  • I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, quickly freshening up and looking at my reflection in the mirror. Just the idea of knowing that I would need to see that bastard after I knew what he’s been doing last night with whoever he had brought to his bedroom. To think that he would have the decency of respecting the fact that my room was next to his.
  • Quickly getting dressed, I debated whether or not to tell anyone that I was leaving. However, I quickly decided against it, it wasn’t worth while, and they wouldn’t care anyway. Therefore, I walked out of the room and toward the door, I could get myself something at the office.
  • “Natalia?” Rosalyn called, stopping me. I smiled and turned around, nodding in respect to Daniel.
  • “Good morning, Rosalyn” I said politely. Fixing my white button up shirt, I wore black high waist pants matched with black heels. My laptop bag was on my shoulder, as I held a few papers in my hand which I knew would need my assistant’s attention when I got to work.
  • “Good morning, where are you going?”
  • “I have work to finish, and not to offend any of you, waiting for your son would just delay that for me” I said calmly. Rosalyn’s eyes met mine for a second before she nodded, I nodded back at her before walking out of the house. I was going to take a cab, my car was left back at home, and I wasn’t going to use any of his cars.
  • “Starling Inc.” I said, entering the first cab that stopped in front of me.
  • “Yes, ma’am” the driver said before taking off. My eyes scanned the papers that I had, the meetings that we were supposed to delay for two weeks would be held today, the faster I got work done, the better it was for me. The investors who would be arriving in two weeks would be giving it a better thought with the progress they would see, not that I needed to have any for now.
  • It was twenty minutes later that we arrived, I nodded at the man handing him fifty pounds before he could tell me how much I owed him to begin with “get something for your kids or wife, make their morning and day”
  • The man’s eyes widened before a bright smile made its way to his face as I walked out of the car heading to the building. My assistant’s eyes widened when she saw me, she was reading through her emails and replying to those that needed her attention.
  • “Kylie, I need you in my office in ten minutes” I said unlocking my office’s door and entering the room. I smiled at my clean place, the window had the view of the city making me smile as light entered the space. I sat on my desk and pulled out my laptop, putting it on my desk and turning it on. The papers that needed Kylie to review were also on the desk, the fact that she made such a mistake in them wasn’t a surprise to me. I allowed minor mistakes as she was still human and still lacked the experience for it; therefore I knew to review all the work before it went anywhere as to ensure that these minor mistakes weren’t repeated.
  • My office’s door was knocked twice breaking my train of thoughts “come in”
  • “You called for me, boss?”
  • “Yes” I said handing her the papers “the mistakes that were made have been highlighted, I want them fixed and I don’t want to expect such minor mistakes from a professional”
  • “My apologies…”
  • “Please call for an order for me for coffee and a panini” I said stopping her. Her apologizing at this point wouldn’t make a difference, the mistakes have been solved and fixed.
  • She nodded before walking out in silence leaving me to check my emails. I sighed checking the time, it was still early and I knew my employees would be able to get their work done before the meeting I planned to hold later this afternoon.
  • I picked up my phone and called my secretary, Amanda, who answered almost instantly “Amanda, we are holding a meeting at twelve, have everyone finish their duties unless they plan on staying overtime”
  • “Yes, boss” I hung up without saying another word just as Kylie walked inside with what I had ordered.
  • “I brought you juice, something with sugar should hold your energy through the day” Kylie said and I nodded.
  • “Thank you” I said, nodding at Kylie, dismissing her. She left the office to finish whatever she had to get done through the day, probably already knowing that we had a meeting to tend to later.
  • My phone’s screen brightened as a notification brightened on my screen flashing a message from one of my friends “congratulations to our beautiful bride”
  • I rolled my eyes at the message and flipped my phone ignoring it. My chest aching at the fact that in their eyes, I was supposed to be living the days of life.
  • Shaking my head at myself, I ran my fingers through my hair before going back to reading my emails.
  • Some bride, right…?
  • ********************
  • I walked back to the Mansion with a bag of food in my hand, I didn’t plan on having anything from whatever they had in their kitchen. Therefore, any sandwich or soup would do at this point, and cold sandwiches were always a rescue in times of need.
  • My eyes met Blake’s who frowned in confusion when he saw me entering the house, his eyes landing on the bag in my hand. However, I made no attempt in approaching him or speaking to him to begin with as I walked up the stairs back to my room.
  • The door was opened without being knocked, making me roll my eyes and turn to face no other than the Alpha who couldn’t take a silent message. His eyes met mine and it took everything in me not to slap him in the face for walking in the way he did.
  • “What do you want?” I asked.
  • “What is this?” He asked, pointing at the bag which was in my hand.
  • “I believe that as a wolf, you have a strong sense of smell” I said calmly “I don’t need anything from you or your house. Whatever you think you can offer me, I can get more by myself; therefore, you can spare me and yourself the time”
  • I set the bag down on the coffee table which was in front of my bedroom’s sitting area, ignoring Blake’s eyes which were studying my every movement before walking to my closet to get myself some fresh clothes “is there anything that you need, Blake?”
  • “Where were you all day?”
  • “Work, I do believe that your parents knew that I was the CEO of my own company. Now, if you will excuse me, I would like to get some rest”
  • “So, you are just going to lock yourself in your room all day?”
  • “Does it make a difference to you? Last I checked, you didn’t even want my presence around you” I said looking him in the eye. His eyes hardened and his wolf growled, making me raise an eyebrow.
  • “You acting this way isn’t going to be fixing anything…”
  • “What is there to fix, Blake? I don’t even know you, I bloody arrived yesterday, how the hell did I do something that needs fixing?” I snapped glaring at him.
  • “I am the Alpha of this house, and you seem to not know the rules of respecting your Alpha”
  • “Why? Because I am not afraid of you? Or because my knees don’t shake at the sight of you? I am not one of your wolves, Alpha Blake. Best you learn and understand that quickly”
