Chapter 90 Mr. Taylor Says He Can’t Live Without Me

  • Mrs. Taylor sat across from Lily Williams and kept glancing up at her. Naturally, her face hadn’t looked pleasant the whole time. She adored Carrie Shaw—always had. Robert Taylor and Carrie’s engagement had come together thanks to her relentless persuading. As for that girl Carrie, she found nothing to complain about. Who could’ve known that just when the good news was about to land, Lily popped up out of nowhere. So before she even met Lily, she was already full of disgust for her. But back then, Old Mr. Taylor was really on his last legs and kept grabbing Samson and Robert, making them promise the marriage. Mrs. Taylor might be brainless and bossy, but she was truly dutiful. In the end, with no other choice, she flipped sides and persuaded Robert to accept it. When Mrs. Taylor sized up Lily Williams for the first time, she rummaged up and down and only found one good thing about her: she was pretty. But being pretty doesn’t help worth a damn. She didn’t like Lily and still didn’t.
  • Lily didn’t even look at Mrs. Taylor this time. She focused on filling her stomach, then set down her cutleries. She picked up a napkin and wiped her mouth. “You all keep eating. I’m heading out.”
  • The old lady glanced at Lily and said nothing. Back in the Taylor Family, leaving the table early used to be a big no. If the elders were still there and a younger one put down her cutleries and left first, that was seen as disrespect. Mrs. Taylor quickly turned to the old lady, hoping she’d say a few words to cut Lily down to size. But the old lady only looked at Lily, then lowered her head and kept eating.
