Chapter 70 The Only Place She Belongs
- Aelries now sat quietly beside Mixarnt’s bedside, her eyes fixed on his pale, peaceful face as he slept. Her mind was spinning with a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. Earlier, when Eschel and Altina had seen her trembling form, they gently guided her to a secluded room within the guild. There, they revealed everything—the painful truth that even if Aelries had chosen the path where she broke up with Mixarnt, he would still have eventually died.
- The news made Aelries’ blood boil. She wanted to scream, to punch Altina, to blame her for Mixarnt’s current fragile state. "How could you Altina!? Your vision has caused so much pain for the two of us!" But before her anger could consume her, Eschel’s calm voice brought her back.
- “It’s not entirely Altina’s fault, Aelries,” Eschel said softly, her silver and gold eyes steady. “With my powers, I can see prophecies, but I don’t see everything. Even the visions Altina had—though they showed the path where Mixarnt dies—also hinted at something else. A future where everything turns out alright. I don’t know what that path looks like exactly, or how it will come to be, but I promise you this: your fates are intertwined, and you will continue together beyond the shadow of that vision. There may still be a way to save him.”
