• I finished calling Gwen and changed my clothes. All the annoyance with Mom was gone because I had told my best friend everything, including telling her about my boyfriend's strange behavior. “Gwen agrees with me that there's something fishy about Sammy. She also suspects that Mom must have directed Sammy to behave and say nice things.”
• I looked at the clock on my left wrist; it was 1:15 PM. It seemed like a good time to go to the hospital. The sooner I got there, the sooner I could get to my destination and avoid the terrible traffic.
