Chapter 9 Return Home

  • "Xanthe!"
  • Gabriel quickly grabbed Xanthe's hand.
  • Smack!
  • Xanthe retaliated with a slap, saying, "Go away! Just get out of here!"
  • "Five years! Do you have any idea how I've spent these five years? How dare you show up now? Just leave! I don't want to see you again!"
  • As she looked at the man in front of her, tears welled up uncontrollably, and she sobbed softly... These past five years were difficult for her!
  • She didn't even have a single person to trust.
  • Where was this man when she needed him back then?
  • Now that he's back, he expects forgiveness? Dream on!
  • After receiving a slap, Gabriel didn't get angry but felt even more remorseful. "If you think hitting me will make you feel better, then go ahead and hit me! I'm sorry for these past five years... I have let you down!"
  • Xanthe was about to strike again, but upon seeing his remorseful expression, she couldn't bring herself to do it. She replied coldly, "I'll be better off without you appearing in front of me."
  • "Seeing you makes me sick!"
  • "Xanthe, believe me, this time I will..."
  • "Gabriel Skarsdale! Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to disrupt the lives of me and my children? We're doing fine without you!"
  • Xanthe had completely lost her patience and turned around, walking away.
  • "Mummy, don't be angry, don't cry, don't scold Daddy... It's Deirdre's fault, Deirdre won't wander off again in the future... Mummy, please stop crying, okay?"
  • Deirdre wiped away the tears from Xanthe's eyes, and seeing that her daughter was understanding, Xanthe's emotions calmed down. "Alright, Mummy won't cry."
  • Gabriel felt a pang in his heart. He could sense the burden this woman had carried alone all these years, and he wondered how much she had endured.
  • He had let her down!
  • He also let down his own children!
  • He felt guilt in his heart!
  • Seeing the three leaving, he quickly followed suit.
  • Xanthe turned around, glaring at him with hatred. "If you follow us again, I'll call the police! And don't even think about touching them!"
  • "Andrew and Deirdre are everything to me. If you dare touch them... I'll fight you with all I've got! Get lost!"
  • Andrew, who had been standing there the whole time, suddenly spoke up. "Mommy, is this man really our daddy?"
  • Since Andrew was much more mature than Deirdre, he immediately guessed what was going on by observing their behavior.
  • "No!"
  • "He doesn't deserve to be your daddy!"
  • "Let's go home!"
  • She could only hold Deirdre in her arms, while her other hand held onto Andrew. Gabriel immediately lifted Andrew up into his arms. "Andrew is injured. Let me carry him back."
  • "If you dare touch him..." Xanthe glared at Gabriel Skarsdale.
  • "Mummy, my hand hurts... daddy, carry me," Andrew cried pitifully. In Gabriel's strong embrace, he felt a sense of security and warmth like never before.
  • "You—" Seeing Andrew in such a state, she couldn't bear it in her heart either.
  • The four of them walked until they reached a rundown alley. They finally stopped in front of a cramped residential building.
  • Xanthe headed straight to the second floor, causing Gabriel's heart to tremble. He hadn't expected that they would be living in such conditions.
  • His guilt deepened even further!
  • What kind of days have Xanthe and the children lived all these years?
  • Xanthe rang the doorbell, and a young man opened the door, showing a surprised expression. "Sis, Andrew, Deirdre, you're back?"
  • His gaze shifted to Gabriel, vaguely sensing a familiar presence. "And who is this..."
  • "This is my daddy!" Deirdre interrupted eagerly, her little face filled with pride and joy. "Uncle, Deirdre has a daddy now too! Yay!"
  • "I am Gabriel Skarsdale." Gabriel Skarsdale smiled, "This time, I come back..."
  • He hadn't finished speaking yet!
  • Hudson raged on the spot.
  • "You bastard!"
  • "You rapist! How dare you have the audacity to come to my house? I'll kill you!"
  • He rushed forward and punched Gabriel's face!
  • Bruises appeared on Gabriel's face.
  • But his body remained motionless, and his eyes were determined. "The grave mistake I made five years ago, I will definitely make it up to you all!"
  • "I promise you here and now, from now on, I will ensure that you all have a good..."
  • "Get out!" Hudson exclaimed, throwing another furious punch.
  • "It's because of you, the rapist, that we've ended up in this situation! If you don't leave now, I'll kill you immediately..."
  • Hudson forcefully pulled Xanthe and their child inside, slamming the door shut with a loud bang, leaving Gabriel standing outside alone, bitter and pained.
