Chapter 1 Worst New Year
- “How could you do this to me, Edric?! Weren’t we in love?!”
- With tears endlessly rolling down my cheek, the resonance of my sobbing echoed in the beautifully decorated suite yet it didn’t bulge the asshole before me.
- I was supposed to celebrate New Year with my dearest boyfriend, Edric, but what did I find after coming early? Him fucking my close friend, Amie!
- I thought this was the worst my life could get. Boyfriend cheating on me with my friend on New Year's, right?
- No. Because in my hands lies a fucking pregancy test that showed the results ‘POSITIVE’ and I thought about surprising him and plan our future together.
- The future he ended up fucking along with Amie.
- What could possibly be more painful than this!?
- I thought Edric would propose that he would accept this child and we shall live happily ever after but all of it shattered in mere moments.
- “Both of you are assholes! How could you betray me? What have I not done for you?!”
- Anguish coated my gray eyes, my makeup was ruined. My black hair was in a mess, glaring outrageously at those two who returned a cocky smirk.
- “What’s with the face, Kristine? What did you expect? Look at you, what do you have? And look at Amie, what she doesn't have?”
- Smirking darkly, his hand was placed on her ass as she was sitting on top of him, pressing that damn half-naked woman into his hard body who moved her hand over his exposed chest.
- How shameless.
- “And look at you, what do ‘you’ have?”
- Shaking, my chest constricted with inexplicable heartbreak. Praying they hold a slightest glimpse of regret in those eyes but to no avail.
- “Weren’t we friends, Amie? Weren’t we lovers, Edric?”
- “That’s the whole point, baby, we were. Amie has everything all I ever wanted,” He laughed, purposely tightening his grip on her to press her harder into him.
- “Oh, Edric, stop…”
- They had zero concern about my ache which flared my chest with the need to do the worst to them.
- Seeing those undignified pigs, the realization that holding complaints was futile sank in.
- So I did what I considered right and hid the papers behind me. My baby won’t have a cheater father, that’s for sure.
- “You motherfuckers…”
- No matter how heartbroken I was, none of it would affect them. I carried the weight of my shattered heart and retreating my steps, pointing my finger contemptuously at them.
- “One day, you will regret betraying me, you will beg me for forgiveness… just watch!”
- “As if!”
- “Damn you…”
- Grabbing the vase nearby, I threw it at them and it thankfully hit Edric on the head, drawing out blood, pleasing my eyes when he passed out.
- “Edric! What have you done, Kristine!”
- “Now enjoy your new year, assholes!”
- Scowling, wiping my tears roughly, I showed them my middle finger before walking away, cursing them constantly in my heart.
- After getting my heart ruptured, the start of the new year was already nightmarish for me.
- I felt my life losing its meaning, everything was becoming pointless.
- Returning home, I was expressing my grief to my best friend Rose who was listening compassionately to my heartache as I held onto her desperately.
- “How could he do this to me, Rose?! What is going to happen to my baby now!?” I sobbed, tears streaming down my face without any intention to halt.
- “To be honest, I never liked him. I knew that bastard would break your heart. You shouldn't have unprotected sex,”
- “I hope both of them suffer in the worst way possible,”
- The merest thought my friend and boyfriend deceiving me for Lord knows how long was breaking my heart beyond repair.
- And I was expressing that heftiness through my tears and anger.
- “Come on, Kristine, it’s new year. Maybe this is a sign for you to have a new start. He is not the last man on Earth,”
- “Or a sign that my life has reached its lowest point and I have to raise this baby alone,” I scoffed, wiping my tears roughly, pouring myself another drink.
- “I can’t let you be sunken in gloom for those who are happily together. Let’s go to the club and forget about those bastards!”
- “Are you sure?”
- “Yes, a few drinks won’t cause harm.”
- To her suggestion, I first glared at her, “You-”
- Utterly displeased but soon it started to make sense that I could get drunk and liberate my anguish.
- We needed it after the pain we went through.
- I could sway along the lively air and melt along the cheeriness… maybe it could help. Tightening my grip over my glass, I nodded in agreement.
- “Yeah… you are right… Why should I sob? We don’t need a pathetic baby daddy, ”
- With a clenched jaw, I pushed my messy hair, holding my head high to not emit further dejection.
- “Why would I be heartbroken when they are enjoying themselves? Why should I carry the pain?”
- “That’s the spirit!”
- She grinned, hugging me from behind, apparently pleased with my break. But then again, she resented Edric.
- “That’s it, we are leaving for the club, Rose, let’s go,”
- Smiling feebly, when I saw she was relieved, I thought maybe, just maybe, it all happened for the better and got ready to leave for the club where I purely aimed to eradicate my sorrow.
- We were in the VIP section, enjoying our drinks with other aristocrats, indulging in the moment.
- With my hands in the air, my hips moved along the rhythm as I danced to forget everything.
- “That’s enough dancing, don’t exhaust yourself, Kristine, let’s have a drink,”
- Rose laughed, dragging me off the floor as we shared a couple of drinks.
- “Fuck, I want neat!” I ordered, getting pumped for the night and surprisingly it worked as I was immersed in the moment.
- When I was going wild with the drink, Rose poked my elbow and gestured with her eyes while a certain blue-eyed, eye-catching man was staring at us.
- “Oh, look, isn’t that the billionaire Zayne Nightwood?”
- “My, my, he is, what is that asshole doing here?” I muttered.
- Zayne Nightwood, the most bewitching bachelor in town, owner of Nightwood Corporation, having chains of airlines, shipments.
- And Edric’s biggest rival. His mortal enemy. They both had sworn to destroy each other.
- “Want to give it a shot?”
- “With his enemy?”
- I got shocked at her suggestion but then something wicked knocked in my mind as I repeated her words under the effect of alcohol.
- “With his enemy…”
- “How is that for a change?” Rose suggests darkly, pushing me off by her shoulder a little.
- Since I had never done a one night stand before and I was feeling daring so I senselessly agreed, grinning with the similar vileness.
- “Sounds nice but only if he makes the first move,”
- “Sure,”
- Licking my lips, I turned to him, arching an eyebrow seductively to accept his invitation from afar, pleasing him too much.
- And to my shock, he snatched the moment I offered it, approaching us with those breathtaking blue eyes locked on me.
- I pretended to not notice him but he offered me his hand, a charm surrounding him.
- “Hey, Beautiful,”
- “Hey,”
- “I am-”
- “Who doesn’t know you?”
- Cutting him off temptingly, I placed my hand over his heart, winking at him, “Mr. Nightwood.”
- He seemed content, pressing my hand harder into his heart, he leaned dangerously closer to my face.
- “My, my, I am honored. How about drinks on the house for you ladies?”
- “Thank you, by the way, I am Kristine Iglesias,”
- “Who doesn’t know you too? Don’t see your boyfriend with you?”
- “Ex,” I corrected him sourly, taking a sip of my drink.
- A wicked glimpse flickered in his eyes, as if it was the most felicitous news and simultaneously, we both sensed a hidden intention.
- “Good. You deserved better,”
- He smirked, offering me a drink as we shared a pleasant time together and I enjoyed the free drinks.
- To the point I was barely in my sense, giggling as my fingers traced over his chiseled jawline, running my fingers through the beard of this devilishly handsome man.
- “Oh, so handsome,” I slurred.
- Observing his muscular form with lust clouding my eyes, pressing himself against me, running my finger down to his neck.
- Holding my hand, he kissed my wrist while wrapping his other hand around my waist, blinding me in his spell.
- “Would you like to come to my place, sweetheart?”
- “I would love to,”
- Taking his hand in mine blindly, I left with him to forget my pain. Absolutely unaware of the drama going along with him was going to bring.
- … From that moment onwards, my life was going to change in ways I never imagined it would….
