• “Since you came to live with us!” Charlotte said, glaring at Violet. “Don't you remember how you used to throw all your leftovers to me while threatening to hit me if I told Dad?”
• “What the hell are you talking about?” Violet yelled, meeting Charlotte's eyes with an equally distasteful glare. After that, she turned to Damien and started to sob. “Damien, don't listen to her! We've been living under her shadow the whole time! Dad always dotes on her!”
• Charlotte cringed at Violet's sudden change in attitude, but her smirk did not waver.
