Chapter 3

  • I hadn't returned home until evening, and Julian skillfully sent me a text message.
  • "Viola, where are you? It's not safe in this heavy snow. Send me your location, I'll come pick you up."
  • "Why aren't you replying to my messages? Are you still mad about me not picking you up this morning?"
  • "Being angry will give you wrinkles. I bought you a souffle, don't be mad at me."
  • Looking at his caring and urgent messages, I couldn't feel any warmth anymore, just waves of disgust.
  • Seeing that I hadn't responded for a long time, the man's assistant sent me a video.
  • In the video, Julian looked heartbroken, his eyes turning red from tears.
  • Despite the cold snow, he searched several places we had been to countless times, but couldn't find me.
  • While looking for me, he still sent caring messages.
  • At the end of the video, the assistant urgently sent a message.
  • "Miss Hayes, Mr. Julian is going crazy looking for you. Please come home soon!"
  • Watching the man searching for me in the video, I still felt my heart twinge a little.
  • But this shattered suddenly on my way home...
  • Before I could even open the door, I heard Bianca's voice inside.
  • "Julian, thank you for inviting me to stay overnight at your house. With this heavy snow, I don't know how to get back."
  • "It's just that Viola has never liked me contacting you. Now that you two are having a fight, why don't you go and make up with her?"
  • My hand, which was about to open the door, hung in the air, and the next second I heard Julian impatiently speaking.
  • "She's already an adult, what's there to make up for? And I just accidentally killed her parents, so I deserve her anger, right?"
  • "She has run away from home so many times in a fit of anger. Every time, I lie to her that I'm looking for her, and she's always touched and forgiving."
  • "Besides, I've given up my own happiness and devoted the rest of my life to her. What else does she want?"
  • I didn't have the courage to listen to the rest of his words.
  • But Julian's voice kept lingering in my ears, haunting me.
  • I covered my mouth tightly and staggered away from the scene.
  • Just as I reached the entrance of the community, still trying to calm my emotions, I bumped into Bianca head-on.
  • Sensing the hostility in her gaze as she looked at me, I turned my head away and avoided eye contact.
  • But the next moment, the woman walked up to me and spoke without any regard for my feelings.
  • "Long time no see, Viola. Have you been avoiding me on purpose all these years?"
  • "I'm about to marry Alexander soon, all thanks to the Hayes family, and thanks to you."
  • I gritted my teeth and stared at the woman in front of me.
  • "What do you want to say?"
  • "No hidden agenda, just want to invite you to my wedding. After all, it was the Hayes family that helped me back then."
  • "And you don't know yet, to ensure my smooth marriage, Julian is willing to be my backup."
  • Seeing a hint of satisfaction in her eyes, I clenched my teeth in hatred.
  • But because of this sentence, I shamefully realized that, until now, I still loved Julian.
  • He was not an item to be replaced when broken.
  • He was not just a friend to cut off when uncomfortable.
  • He was a living person, the lover I had loved for a whole ten years.
  • Loving him had become my instinctive action over these ten years.
  • But if it weren't for him and Bianca conspiring together, if it weren't for their ingratitude in killing my parents...
  • At the thought of this, I suppressed the anger rising in my heart and nodded in agreement.
  • After all, if I really want to destroy them, I must stop their plan.
