Chapter 2 Mysterious Big Boss
- "Got it," the PR staff and temporary support team responded in unison.
- Amelia's gaze finally settled on Isabella. "Isabella, I heard that you're the most outstanding employee in your department. In a moment, you'll be following the new CEO and assisting him directly. Leave everything else to the team."
- Isabella nodded. Before she could reply, April Hughes from the PR Department said with a sly grin, "Isabella, if our new CEO is single, do you think you might catch his eye?"
- Though April's comment seemed playful, there was an undertone of mockery. On the surface, being assigned to assist the CEO sounded like a golden opportunity. But everyone knew it was a tough task—a hot potato no one wanted to handle. That is how it had landed on Isabella's plate.
- Amelia shot a sharp look at April. "This isn't the time for joke. Today could determine our future here. Take it seriously."
- The room fell silent. No one dared to speak again. Isabella quietly took a breath and mentally prepared to give her best effort.
- No wonder Amelia was nervous. This matter happened so suddenly.
- When things seemed stable within the company, the board had abruptly announced that the CEO would be replaced.
- However, the new boss was shrouded in mystery, and despite the department heads' efforts to dig up information, no one had uncovered anything about him.
- Isabella usually avoided indulging in workplace drama, but curiosity got the better of her this time. She craned her neck, eyes fixed on the entrance, eager to catch a glimpse of this new big boss.
- "They're coming. All the board members and the new CEO have arrived," came the receptionist's voice over the intercom, audible to everyone.
- At once, the staff instinctively straightened their attire and stood respectfully at their posts.
- Isabella followed closely behind Amelia, ready to welcome the mysterious big boss everyone had been eagerly anticipating.
- Just a few steps, she saw a tall figure dressed in a silver-gray suit, exuding elegence and authority as he strode toward the hall. He was surrounded by several men in black suits, their presence amplifying his commanding aura.
- Once her eyes landed on him, she froze in place.
- The tall man at the head of the group in a silver-gray suit was none other than Quinn, her new husband!
- "No way!" Isabella thought, convinced she must be hallucinating. She immediately shut her eyes and shook her head, trying to clear her mind.
- But when she opened them again, the man was still there, and nothing had changed.
- If it were anyone else, she might be mistaken. But this was her new husband, so she couldn't mistake him for someone else.
- A perfect face, an impressive height of 188 cm, a robust build... and the elegant demeanor seemed to flow naturally from him.
- Everything about this man matched Quinn, her new husband, to the last detail.
- "Quinn?" said Isabella unconsciously as she stared at the man.
- It was as if he heard her voice. He gaze shifted slightly in her direction, locking onto her for a moment.
- When their eyes met, Isabella felt her chest tightened, and for a second, she forgot how to breathe.
- She would never have imagined that her "ordinary" new husband would turn out to be the new CEO of the company she worked for.
- She looked at him, her head buzzing as if it were about to exploded.
- Yet, his gaze lingered on her for just a moment before sliding away as though she were a stranger.
- His cold expression made her heart sank quickly.
- He was obviously Quinn, her new husband, but his gaze carried a cold indifference that felt entirely unfamiliar. Why was he looking at her like that?
- In a few moments, countless thoughts flashed through Isabella's mind.
- The most logical explanation was that this had to be a ridiculous dream.
- After all, Quinn was always gentle, a man of impeccable manners. He would never act as though he didn't know her.
- Isabella hurriedly pinched herself twice, wincing in pain. And yet, here he was, exuding an air of authority that seemed foreign. She realized that this was exactly the reality.
- Since it wasn't a dream, there was another possibility—perhaps this man just shared the same face as Quinn but was a completely different person.
- Before Isabella could dwell further on the thought, Amelia gave her a firm tug and hissed in a low voice, "Isabella, it's a serious occasion. What the hell are you doing?"
- Snapped back to reality, Isabella felt a little frustration with herself for zoning out again.
- Amelia's whisper turned sharper, "Quickly, keep up!"
- Isabella nodded and harried after the new CEO. She hid her emotions and showed her professionalism to the big boss who looked like her new husband.
- Amelia quickened her pace to catch up with the new CEO and his entourage. She opened the doors of the press conference hall and announced, "Please welcome the board members and the new CEO."
- As her excited voice came out, the large conference hall was immediately filled with warm applause. Everyone stared wide-eyed at the entrance, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the mysterious big boss.
- Isabella quietly gasped and followed closely behind the big boss. After he took his seat, she briskly handed over the prepared documents.
- Despite her professionalism, the fact that the new boss was her new husband shocked her too much. Her hand trembled, causing two documents to slip from her grasp.
- As she bent down to retrieve them, Quinn was faster, bending down and pick them up for her. He handed them back with a soft whispered in her ear, "Wait for me at home tonight."
- If Quinn had not said this, Isabella might have been able to convince herself to take him as a man who just looked like her husband. But as soon as he whispered those words, she was left thunderstruck, completely forgetting what she was supposed to do.
- Luckily, the reporters were focused on the stage, allowing her a short time to collect herself.
- However, while the reporters were distracted, the sharp-eyed PR staff didn't miss her small hiccup.
- The PR Department had been thoroughly prepared, and all departments cooperated well. Quinn, with his dignified presence and commanding aura, ensured that the press conference for the new CEO was a great success.
- As soon as the new CEO and his team left, April squeezed through the crowd and approached Isabella. "Isabella, you 'accidentally' dropped the documents, and you've successfully grabbed the new CEO's attention."
- Isabella frowned slightly and turned to Amelia. "Ms. Bennett, now that the PR Department has wrapped up its work, I'll go back to the Sales Department."
- Watching Isabella walk away, April stomped her foot with anger. "She ignored me. She actually ignored me! How dare she act so arrogant?"
- Amelia gave April a sharp look. "Stop picking fights every day. If you keep messing around, you'll be the next one to leave. Do your job well. Maybe one day you'll earn a higher position than her. You'll have the right to be arrogant too."
- April glared at Isabella's departing figure, gritted her teeth, and responded with hatred, "I see."
