Chapter 19 The Storm

- Pieces of the world returned. First the sound—the audiences startled gasping breath, a contagious wave of murmurs that swept through the ballroom. After that there was the sight of Judge Lark's stunned face, Whitfield's flaming rage and lastly the woman in my arms, her eyes wide with a stunning horrifying blend of passion and shock.
- The force of my kiss had made her lips become red and slightly swollen. I could still taste her—a heady mix of champagne, defiance and a singularly hers sweet intoxicating flavor. I didn't know how it happened but I knew it did. I was glad that at least I had given some people a dose of their own medicine and what greater joy it would be to see the headlines tomorrow.
