- "Not this again," Fredrik spoke under his breath, and shook his head slightly as he watched his girlfriend's pained expression at the notion. "Come, Cupcake, let's see if they've got any salty liquorice for sale." Greta seemed to cringe slightly at the nickname, but she followed along when Fredrik tugged on her hand - though she sent an apologetic look towards Aunty Krissy first, being whisked away immediately after they had met.
- Elvira spoke to the group with a gentle tone. "I think he's a bit sensitive about it. We've all had quite strong reactions to the likeness between you," she looked at her daughter, "and Greta since they arrived yesterday. We've agreed not to talk about it anymore." After Aunty Krissy gave her an understanding look, she then turned towards Charles. "Honey, will you get the picnic blankets and the cooler from the trunk?"
- He did as he was told, and Elvira kept talking as they headed up towards the grassy knoll overlooking Disa homestead - hundreds of people already seated all over the place to enjoy the music and festivities that was about to begin any minute. A small market with stalls selling typical Swedish handicrafts and simple snacks snaked its way along the western side of the grass clearing, and centre stage stood the majestic maypole in all of its glory.
