They'd been sitting in the same spot in traffic for almost a half hour. The Spring Break traffic was maddening as usual, and the road to Daytona Beach was effectively a parking lot. Mary Kate was driving her bright yellow Mini Cooper Convertible. It was a gorgeous spring day and the top was down. Taylor was in the passenger seat and Lonnie was in the back seat, alternating between scrolling mindlessly and dozing.
"This is stupid," complained Mary Kate. "If we even get to the beach, it'll be so crowded it won't be any fun."
