- My joy was short lived when I heard a front door, which wasn't mine, open and close, and the sound of heels walking on the floor disappeared, leaving me in darkness and silence. I looked at my own front door, hoping a praying to hear a key, followed by my daughter stumbling in drunk, but it never came.
