- I've never been afraid of work, even if it was dirty work, and it seemed virtually everything that Mary had for me to do was dirty. Yard work was dirty; removing overgrown plants was dirty; just mowing lawns and edging got me dirty. The preparation for painting included a lot of power sanding and preparation that got me dirty.
