I stopped, just observing Stephanie from a distance, once I finally found her. She wasn't quite where she'd told me she'd be -- but it was close. Standing against the railing on the starboard side, the wind from the moving ship was blowing her hair back over her shoulders as she observed the passing shoreline. The view hadn't changed much in several hours; the evergreen forest of Canada (or was it now Alaska?) pushed right to the edge of the sea, or at least the edge of the most recent cliff we were going by.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" I whispered as I walked up behind her and slipped my arms around her.
"Hmmm," she answered, leaning back into me with a shiver, her hand coming over to rest on my arm. "I'm glad we didn't drive. Anchorage is a long way from Seattle, isn't it?"
