Chapter 2 Bitch, Did You Hear What Rhodes And I Said Last Night?

  • Stellan didn’t reply immediately. Instead, he let out a cold, mocking laugh.
  • “Mrs. Calloway, don’t joke with me. Your husband is dead, and even if he were actually still alive, you wouldn’t reveal something like that to me so easily.”
  • His cold laughter continued.
  • “And you, certainly wouldn’t want to bring Calloway Corporation down.”
  • He spoke with absolute certainty, emphasizing that he had no time to indulge in my jokes.
  • However, I quickly responded.
  • “Stellan, first, I’m not joking.”
  • Furrowing my brows tightly, I added.
  • “Second, you have no choice but to cooperate with me. That major project your company has been targeting this year, the resort development project on the west side of the city, is about to fall into Rhodes’s hands.”
  • A cold laugh escaped my lips as I clicked my tongue.
  • “The investor has been a close business partner of my parents for years. If we work together, I guarantee I can help you win it back.”
  • This time, Stellan didn’t immediately refute me. Instead, he remained silent for several seconds before finally lowering his voice.
  • “Are you serious? You really intend to go against your own husband?”
  • I calmly hummed in response, emphasizing each word.
  • “Very serious. Anyway, he’s not my husband anymore. He’s my ex-husband.”
  • I licked my lips.
  • “Legally speaking, Rhodes has already been declared dead. Our marriage has ended.”
  • Stellan fell silent for another moment before letting out a soft chuckle.
  • “You really impress me. In exchange, what do you want from me?”
  • I raised an eyebrow.
  • “I think it’s very simple. I’ll provide the information, and you use all your resources to completely destroy Rhodes and Calloway Corporation. Not a single trace of my involvement can be revealed.”
  • I let out a soft sigh and continued,
  • “After all, I’m Rhodes’s ex-wife. If word gets out that I was the one who destroyed him, it will affect my reputation, as well as my parents’ business.”
  • My conditions were few, while the benefits I offered were substantial, so Stellan thought for a moment before agreeing. Before hanging up, he spoke again in his deep, warm voice.
  • “Mrs. Calloway, no, Mrs. West. If you ever consider remarrying, you could seriously consider me.”
  • I rubbed my forehead and let out a cold laugh.
  • “I’m not thinking about that for now. Maybe later.”
  • Being betrayed once was more than enough for me.
  • With that, I quickly hung up before Stellan could respond.
  • Searching through my contacts again, I quickly called my dad, told him about Rhodes’s disgusting betrayal, and said that I would move back home tomorrow afternoon.
  • I needed tonight and tomorrow morning to pack my things.
  • “Damn it, that bastard Rhodes dared to treat you like this? Just wait, sweetheart, I’m coming over to help you punish that bastard!”
  • My dad, who was usually the calmest person, suddenly lost control, his voice rising higher than usual. I quickly reassured him that I was fine and that I already had another plan to take revenge on Rhodes, only then did he finally relax.
  • However, my dad still snorted coldly.
  • “I’ll have my secretary immediately terminate all cooperation with Calloway Corporation and announce that they’re our competitor in the industry!”
  • I hurriedly reassured my dad again that he shouldn’t take any further action and that I had my own pace and plan. Only then did he finally calm down.
  • After hanging up, I quickly began packing my belongings. Naturally, anything related to Rhodes, I coldly tossed straight into the trash.
  • By the time I had packed half of my things, exhaustion had already set in, so I went to bed and slept through the night without a single dream.
  • ...
  • The next morning, instead of getting up early to prepare breakfast for Rhodes and Faye as I usually did, I slept until noon. When I woke up, Rhodes and Faye were already sitting together at the dining table, having lunch.
  • I walked over and calmly told them that I would be moving out today.
  • “I’ve been imposing on you two for far too long. It’s time to give you both some privacy.”
  • I didn’t expose Rhodes’s deception, merely maintaining a gentle smile as I spoke and thanking Rhodes and Faye for taking care of me all this time, still calling Rhodes Blaise.
  • Faye pretended to be kind and offered to help me pack, but I coldly refused. Then, without saying another unnecessary word, I turned around and returned to my room to continue packing.
  • Unexpectedly, just as I was folding clothes into my suitcase, the door suddenly swung open. A graceful figure stepped inside before the door was slammed shut behind her.
  • A sweet yet provocative voice rang out from above my head.
  • “Bitch, you heard what Rhodes and I said last night, didn’t you?”
