With a smile on his face, Otis thought, Caryn’s still a child indeed. She didn’t even arrange for a caregiver to attend to Iris. Fortunately, it looks like they’re still quite close to each other and Iris isn’t the type to take offense at such matters too.
Silently, Otis pushed the door open and made his way in. Instinctively, Iris got up from her bed immediately upon hearing the noise because she was quite certain that it wouldn’t be anyone from the medical team at this time of the night. As soon as she saw Otis, she relaxed and revealed a warm smile.
“Caryn’s asleep, isn’t she?” Otis spoke in a soft voice to avoid waking Caryn up.
“Yeah. She’s been sound asleep since a while ago. She must be quite tired after sorting out my issues throughout the day. Let’s not disturb her sleep.”
Otis nodded in agreement and took a seat by Iris’s bedside. “How’s everything? How are you feeling right now? Do you feel any pain?”
“Don’t worry, I’m fine. The doctor said that there’s no internal bleeding.”
