- Betsy leaned in close to her sister-in-law to say in a loud, drunken whisper, "Don't you mean a proper 'suck-off'?" before straightening back up, to cover up her mock look of open-mouthed surprise with her hand. Candace threw her head back laughing at how naughtily Betsy had begun to play along.
- Bill looked around at the tables around them and grew concerned that the girls were getting a little too boisterous for the room. He felt a need to head off any more jokes before one got loud enough to carry to those who kept looking over at their table as the girls got more animated. "What do you say we grab another round and take a walk on the dock to get some air," he suggested to his wife and sister. "I can show you the new paneling I had installed in the cabin once the season ended this year." He stood and held the back of his wife's chair as the ladies grabbed their things.
- "I don't know about Betsy, but I need to powder my nose before we do," Candace looked over at her sister-in-law and offered her arm. "Shall we?"
