• Julian's driver was a quiet man who did not ask questions, which I appreciated more than I could say.
• I slid into the back seat and Julian was already there, relaxed against the leather with that easy smile he wore when he felt like things were going his way. He looked at me the way he used to in the beginning, warm and focused, like I was the only thing worth looking at, and I hated that it still worked on me even a little.
