- Ero-Ti's council was perhaps the most quarrelous, selfish, intolerably disagreeable group of bickering, power hungry, petty, malcontents that she had known. That is to say, they were politicians, and good ones. She led the council as the permanent chairwoman, a title gifted in recognition of her help in ending the last Reign of Dominion, but her position did little to grant her the ability to govern such a collection of squabbling, self-interested lawmakers.

She had managed to get the various councillors all equally dissatisfied with her newest plan, which caused them all to agree on something for once. It was the mark of a good compromise to have all parties evenly dislike it. Everyone voted for it, if only to spite their colleagues, but they still grumbled about it. The main details of the plan had been approved months ago, but after this vote full power and responsibility over the project had been given to Maenoko.
- "I still don't understand why we are even trying this. A school for training mages is ridiculous. Everyone knows that arcane talent is unique enough in every person that techniques and strategies used by one mage are barely ever applicable for another." Lord Titus grumbled.
