Chapter 1908 Girl Next Door Grows Up:>Ep11

  • So I showed her. Or rather I didn't. There was a woman who had been one of Holly's friends who would stop by every other month or so just to check in and see how I was doing. She'd been divorced herself for about five years. We had been couples friends with them before their divorce. I was pretty sure if I asked her out, she wouldn't say no. She and I just happened to be chatting in the driveway when Kayla came out of her house and saw us. Just like an impulsive teenager I asked Alexis out immediately, then and there on the spot. She was the bubbly sort, and immediately gave me a hug, as I thought she might. Kayla saw it all.
  • The actual date with Alexis was fine. I was pretty charming if I do say so myself. It was surprisingly easy for me to be relaxed and charming with her, since in point of truth I had no real interest in her at all. She invited me in for drinks after our date, and I actually declined, making up some non-existent early morning engagement I had to be rested for the next day. There was nothing seriously wrong with Alexis. The main thing is that she wasn't Kayla. She wasn't even close.
  • Not long after that I was in my bedroom around 11:30 one night when I heard a bit of a commotion outside, nothing too bad, but there were car doors slamming and young men talking too loudly. Our cul-de-sac is normally pretty quiet so I glanced outside. I saw two young guys, they looked to be probably around 20 by dress and manner and what I could see. They were parked in Kayla's driveway. They went up to ring her doorbell. I saw her come out in her bathrobe and right there on her porch, she gave them each a big hug before they all went into her house. I was up the next morning at 7:30 and I saw the young men leave.
