Chapter 410 When You Grow Up, Heights Don’t Scare You

  • Mr. James wiped the fog from his reading glasses. He felt this year’s students were blessed. All goodbyes come sooner or later. The New Year had passed, Rhea Wood had paid her respects to those she wanted to honor, and even the wedding was done. Their group had relaxed in the village for days; it was time to head back to Wingston. Most people there couldn’t live idle forever.
  • Before leaving, Rhea Wood took Casper Frost out. No one else came—just the two of them. Casper didn’t ask where they were going; he simply followed Rhea. They walked the country path, farther and farther, more and more remote. Casper finally spoke: “Where are we headed? You’ve been walking forever today. Don’t wear yourself out.”
  • Rhea grinned. “Almost there, almost there. Don’t worry, I’m fine.” Another ten minutes and they reached the foot of a mountain. Rhea pointed at it, eyes bright. “I used to climb this one all the time when I was little. Want to check it out?” Casper thought of Rhea’s memories—digging wild greens, picking mushrooms, even hunting. Odds were, it was this very mountain. He hadn’t thought about it before, but now that they stood here, he did want to see it. Still, he shook his head. “You shouldn’t be climbing right now.”
