Chapter 5

  • Rudrani PoV:
  • I went to college and poen told that Principal asked me to meet her. I went to the principal's office.
  • "Good morning madam"
  • "Good morning Rudrani. I know everything about what happened to you, but still can't help. Actually your scholarship has been delayed by government this time. So, you need to pay the term fees on your own within a week or you are not allowed to appear for this exams" madam said shocking me.
  • "But madam, how can I pay this term fees without scholarship? Please madam, I will pay as soon as scholarship credits into my account. You know my family can't afford to pay 25,000 at a stretch for my studies. Please consider my request."
  • "Sorry Rudrani, I am helpless. The management has already declared that everyone should pay fees within a week. No one is an exception."
  • "Rudrani, I will pay your fees"
  • I looked to the side and it was my class teacher who gave me notes and helped me with the syllabus I missed.
  • "Madam!"
  • "Don't worry, you can repay me when you get your scholarship. Evening come to my house and take the money"
  • "Thank you so much madam. I am extremely grateful to you. I will repay you as soon as possible." I said and went to my classroom.
  • After college, I went to madam's home. She welcomed me cordially.

  • "Viraj sir? Yes madam"
  • "Rudrani, he accepted to pay your term fees. He is ready to bear all your expenses, if you agree for his condition"

  • "Yes my brother loves you from a long time. Even after this incident, his love didn't fade for you. He wants to marry you. As you know his wife can't have children, we were searching a bride for him. Then he said he loves you.
  • Look your parents can't afford to get you married by offering dowry and now after all this, no one will be ready to marry you. This is a great oppurtunity. You can study after marriage also and can work as a doctor too. We have no objection at all. His first wife is also okay with this marriage"
  • "What is this you are talking madam? How can you even ask such a thing to your student? He worked as a professor in our college for an year. I feel all lecturers as my own parents. How can I agree to marry my professor who is equal to my father in my opinion? I can't spoil life of another woman too. If she is unable to have children, she can take treatment. But opting for second marriage is not right. You and Viraj sir being such renowned doctors and professors, how can you think so narrowly? If fault was in your brother, are you going to let your sister in law remarry?
  • Whatever Ma'am, I am sorry, I can't marry your brother" I said and came out with tears.
  • I went to a temple crying. Why people are ready to take advantage of a girl everywhere? I cried continuously for a longtime. Priest came to me.
  • "Beti, why are you crying?"
  • "Why is this world filled with people who take advantage of others' miseries" I asked him sobbing.
  • "What happened beti?"
  • I said everything to that priest.
  • "Beti, God is making you aware of this cruel world for your betterment. Nothing will happen without a reason and everything happens with a good reason" he said and gave flower to me which was on the feet of Goddess Durga mata.
  • "Durga mata will bless you with her courage" priest said and I took the flower.
  • A kid came to me and gave a letter to me. I opened it and it's of same handwriting which was on that greeting.
  • "Who gave this to you?" I asked the little kid immediately.
  • "Bhaiya" said the kid.
  • "Where is he?"
  • "He went off", he said.
  • I got disappointed as again I lost the chance of meeting that kind person. I opened the letter to read
  • "Hi my dear friend,
  • Do you feel that your miseries are taken as an advantage by others? What are your miseries? Why are you so miserable? Are you physically or mentally disabled? Didn't God give you hands to work and legs to stand by yourself? Are you not mentally fit to win your life's race?
  • If you think you are weak, whole world makes you the weakest. If you don't realize your strength by yourself, no one else can. Rise up with a greater strength every time you fall. Make every insult a fuel to light the lamp of your success.
  • Find the ways to solve your problem. Tears never solve a problem. People who hate you will enjoy your tears and who love you will get hurt with your tears. Every problem has a solution just like every lock has a key to unlock. Think, but don't quit.
  • Never let this world see your tears. It's YOU who can solve your own problem or need to bear the problem. World had nothing to do with your tears, so never shed your tears before others. Show your success, courage and strength to the world but not tears,vulnerability and weakness.
  • Relax yourself and close your eyes. Think about the solution and try every solution that comes to your mind. I am sure you are capable of solving your problem. All the best.

  • I don't understand who this friend is, but his words are my strength now! I will do just as he told me. His words reminded me that my name was Rudrani. I am courageous and can fight back all odds. I prayed, took blessings of the priest and left for my home with a renewed confidence.
  • While walking down to the bus stop, I saw a small girl with torn clothes selling newspapers and her younger brother flowers. I went near them and bought a newspaper and some flowers for my mother. The little kids had their smile always on their face. Even though they don't have good clothes and are working in such a tender age, they were like an inspiration to me to smile again.
  • That's when an idea struck in my mind to do a part time job. I can do any kind of job.
  • I went home and opened the newspaper to find any job opportunities. But couldn't find anything. Then I saw one advertisement about an NGO named SPOORTHI that helps young women.
  • Next day I skipped my college and went to the NGO. I told the receptionist that I want a job so came here as they help women.
  • I went to the office of the director. Her nameplate reads Dr. Prerna.
  • "Good morning Madam" I said.
  • Then I recognized her as the woman who stood by me on the TV.
  • "Rudrani! How nice to see you here. Good morning. You are a bold girl. I am so proud of what you've done. Tell me what help you need. I am ready to help you out."
  • " Thank you Madam, Actually I am in dire need if money to pay my college fee. The government delayed my scholarship this semester. And the deadline to pay it is this week. I want a job."
  • " Sure, Rudrani. Am impressed that you came to ask for a job and not money. Surely I will try to get you a job. Tell me what are you studying?"
  • " Thank you Madam. It means a lot. I am doing my MBBS 3rd year. I just need a job ma'am."
  • " Oh! You are studying medicine? I can give you a job in a hospital. You can assist the doctors there afterr your college hours and work as a junior doctor there. I am sure you will learn too from the doctors too. It will be a good experience too. I will give you the required amount now by cheque and you can pay it little by little from your salary. How much is the fees"
  • " Thank you so much Madam. I can never forget your kindness. I need 25,000/-"
  • "Sure" she said and handovered check to me.
  • I took the cheque and left.
  • I paid the fee and thanked God, my secret friend and Prerna madam.
  • Truly God helps those who help themselves and what that friend told me was so true. I am the maker of my own destiny. I can never thank him enough. From today there is a new Rudrani. I will not grow weak. I will overcome all problems with courage and strength. I will not show anyone my weaknesses. Because if I show it, it will be taken as an advantage. I will be strong.
