• The door was slightly ajar when Lauren returned to the ward. From where she stood outside the door, she could see Kate and Tyler talking to each other. As usual, his gaze was warm and kind. Nonetheless, Lauren unknowingly clenched her fists as she stayed rooted to her spot. She had heard bits and pieces of what the two siblings were talking about earlier—Tyler mentioned that it was his own choice to have feelings for her, and he didn’t expect her to reciprocate such feelings. This reminded her of herself greatly; Lauren used to stubbornly believe that it was her own choice to fall in love with Ethan, and it was her own decision to sacrifice everything for him. However, it only led to the two of them detesting one another at the very end. She didn’t want history to repeat itself with Tyler as she really treasured him as a friend.
