Chapter 8
- Alpha Zane stood patiently in the room, awaiting Manchalla.
- His nose had stopped bleeding, but the traces of blood could still be found on it.
- Why was he bleeding? The question kept repeating in his head.
- Not long after, the door opened with Manchalla walking in, holding his small bag.
- "What took you so long?" Zane grunted, his heart becoming more impatient now that he's arrived.
- "Sorry Alpha, I needed to attend to certain things" Manchalla replied.
- "What's the problem?"
- "It's the bleeding. It started already" Zane pointed out the traces of blood on his nose and Manchalla went closer to have a clear look.
- "This is strange" he noted.
- "You shouldn't be bleeding yet. The curse shouldn't be at this stage already".
- It only made Zane more worried, tho it would never show up on his face.
- "So, what could this mean?" He asked.
- "It means the curse is getting at an advanced stage, Alpha. And needs to be tamed else, it might result in the loss of your life in a few days from now".
- "And how do you suggest we do that?" Zane asked and Manchalla paused to heave a sigh.
- "Well...At this point, it can only be done by a particular spell which can only be casted by a witch".
- "A witch??" Zane flinched as soon as the words left his mouth.
- "What're you talking about, Manchalla? You should know that's impossible. No witch would ever agree to help. Are you forgetting we have a fine history with the witches?"
- "I know, Alpha. But unfortunately, that's the only option I can think of at the moment. My powers are limited...."
- "Damn it!"
- Zane growled and turned around, backing him.
- Why does it have to be difficult? Where's he expected to get a witch that would be willing to help him? Why does he have to be cursed in the first place?
- He stood, facing the window for a long time, not knowing what to say or do. And Manchalla was also numb.
- "How's Nessa?" He suddenly asked, sounding so calm.
- But Manchalla knew him well enough to know it wasn't a good calmness.
- "She's still breathing" he answered with a sigh.
- "And I'm trying my best to make sure she keeps doing it. I'm still working on the poison, but so far.... nothing".
- It made Zane's system grow bittered, his furs spurred out on his skin.
- "Just work harder, Manchalla! And get something done! Please!" He yelled, And a few seconds of silence stepped in.
- "You' don't have to worry about it, Alpha. I'm always trying my best. I beg to take my leave" he bowed and left the room.
- Alpha Zane went over to his bed and sat on the edge, burying his head in his palms.
- The curse; why does he have to be cursed? All thanks to his enemies.
- His head was beginning to ache and knew instantly he needed a distraction.
- "Evo!" He called on the guard at the door and it didn't take long before he came rushing in.
- "Yes, Alpha?"
- "Get me the hunter's daughter".
