Chapter 8

  • When I went downstairs, Logan was sitting there and talking with my brothers.
  • “Hey, kiddo. Where were you? You missed all the fun. Your mate has a wonderful sense of humor.” Ariel excitedly says, seeing me coming downstairs.
  • “Did you meet mom?” Aries asks
  • “Yes, I just came from there,” I say and sit beside Logan. Though we are sitting close by there is a distance between us.
  • It’s a normal routine for us.
  • We show people we are happy in our relationship.
  • But our heart is far apart from each other.
  • I never get the chance to know him, to love him.
  • And Logan, he never tries to do that, too.
  • Because I know he despises me. He never likes my presence.
  • Or you can say he is the reason. There is a wedge between our relations.
  • Because he never let the distance get closer between us.
  • “This is not fair. We meet you after so long and you sit there with your mate? You want to make us jealous?” Ariel faked being hurt. If you would have known the truth brother.
  • “Ariel, don’t make trouble. Let her sit.” Aries scolds him. But I know why I am sitting beside him.
  • “Where were you?” Logan asks with no emotion.
  • “I was with mom,” I reply but I know he didn’t like the answer.
  • I know he didn’t like that I was out of his sight for so long, and I am going to be punished for this.
  • ‘I gave you a time limit.’ Logan mind links me.
  • ‘Sorry. I was talking with mom, and didn’t realize so much time has passed.’ I knew it, he is angry, but I become shocked that he is mind linking me.
  • He never talks through our mind link. We never needed to because we rarely talk.
  • I can feel his emotion through our bond. He is angry.
  • I know it’s my mistake, I break the rules.
  • But I have come here for so many years. Fifteen minutes is too little for me.
  • I was so lost in my cheerful space that I forgot my reality.
  • From the day I mated with Logan, I always keep my side of the bond open.
  • I wished at least for once he will let his heart open to me.
  • But he never opened it.
  • I can feel his anger through our bond sometimes like now.
  • So it’s either he has only anger for me, or he only opens it to show me his anger.
  • Because if his part of the bond was open he would have felt my emotion too.
  • But if he would have felt my sadness, how can he behave with me like this for so many years?
  • After all, he is my mate, and this mate bond is stronger than anything in this world.
  • Maybe his hatred is more than his love for me.
  • This all mate bond is a mystery for me.
  • Logan is a mystery to me
  • “Alpha Logan you should freshen up. You may be tired. After that, we can have our lunch.” Aries says after some time, and Logan gets up. I also get up to go with him.
  • “Kiddo, you stay. Let alpha Logan have his time. We can talk in the meantime.” Ariel stops me.
  • “But he will need my help.” I know he will never take my help. But he is already angry. I don’t want to make him angrier.
  • “He is the Alpha. What will he need your help for? It’s not like you will help him to take shower! I mean you can, after all, you are his mate, but he can manage for a day.” Ariel teases me.
  • I look at Logan and he nods and left.
  • ‘Don’t close your mind link. and don’t you dare to tell your brother about us. The consequences will not be good.’ He mind links me before leaving.
  • I didn’t think to tell them before, too.
  • But I let my mind link open, and I know now he can hear what we are talking about.
  • “Kiddo, come here and sit with us,” Ariel says, and I went and sit between them.
  • “How are you?” Aries asks concerned, as I place my head on his shoulder.
  • “Fine,” I say, taking a deep breath.
  • “Logan, treat you well? I mean after what happened that year...” he tries to say, but I stop him.
  • “Brother, I am fine. Logan treats me well. In his pack, everyone respects me. I get anything before I can ask.” I say with a smile.
  • “What about Logan?” Aries asks this time and I become tense.
  • “He too. After all, he is my mate. He can’t hurt me.” I say, it’s just that he never loves me.
  • I am everything there, a Luna, a mate, but his lover, never.
  • I am just a bed warming tool for him.
  • But I can’t say that to them.
  • “After what happened that year we thought...” Ariel tries to say, but I stop him.
  • “I don’t want to talk about that, and don’t even mention this in front of Logan. It is a sore point in our life. I don’t want to stir any more trouble. What happened that year we can’t change that.” I say and take a deep breath.
  • “OK, but you know your brothers are here. Everything has changed Andrea. You don’t have to suffer anymore. If you are in any problem, just let us know,” Ariel says and I smile at him.
  • Time changed and my fate, too. Now I don’t dream of being happy. As long as Logan is with me, I wish nothing else.
  • “Why mom stay in that room and what about dad? Where is he?” I try to change the topic.
  • “After that day, everything changed. Mom stopped talking to dad. She changed her room. Dad became sick, and they rarely comes out of his room.” Aries says sadly.
  • “Why?” I ask, confused. I thought everything was sorted when I left.
  • “You know about grandma and grandpa?” I nod when Aries asks.
  • “Yes. Mom told me about them, the day I leave the pack.” I remember how sad she was that day
  • “Dad didn’t lock them in the dungeon. He killed them,” he says and I become surprised.
  • “Mom was so devastated after knowing, that she ate nothing for weeks, but then we persuade her, and at last, she ate something,” Ariel said
  • “From that day she is living there,” Aries sighs.
  • I don’t know what to say.
  • I know mom is right.
  • Anyone would have done the same in her place. She believed dad, and he used her, just as he used me.
  • But I don’t know why I can’t hate him!
  • He is my dad, maybe that’s why!
  • “When I went to my room and sitting there mom came angrily,” I say with a smile.
  • “Ask me that!” Ariel chuckles. “You remember, I always used to tell you that when you will leave the pack I will take it, as it has the best view of the house?” I nod.
  • “Mom remembered that, so when you left she let no one enter your room, not even a maid, and she has told us to not even put our steps there,” Aries said
  • “Really?” I ask surprised.
  • “Yes. She does all the cleaning of your room alone every day, and only she can enter there.” Ariel says, laughing.
  • I also smile but feel sorry for her.
  • My room is vast, so it may tire her to clean that on her own.
  • I will tell her not to do that. After all, I am not living there now.
  • “She missed you a lot,” Aries says, and I smile with tears in my eyes.
  • I always knew mom loves me more than my brother.
  • But I never thought she will love me this much.
  • “I missed you all, too,” I say and hug them both together.
