Chapter 8 Joanne, Don’t Cry

  • Joanne woke up to a pungent smell of hospital disinfect and mechanical beeping. She felt powerless and heavy, as she looked around, she noticed the sky was already dark.
  • It’s dark!?
  • She sprung up from the bed and yanked out the IV from her hand.
  • The sharp pain made her hissed, but she cannot afford to miss her flight!
  • When her feet touched the ground, she noticed a red booklet by her bedside. And her body froze.
  • Divorce cert.
  • She mustered her all her might, but she just couldn’t seem to lift the booklet…
  • Don’t cry, Joanne.
  • Please don’t cry…
  • This is what you wanted, remember?
  • An involuntary whimper escaped her lips and her vision was blurry.
  • She delicately held the divorce cert and put it close to her chest. As if Martin was close to her heart once again.
  • “Hey, you’re awake!”
  • A raucous sound came from the door.
  • “Thanks Uncle Liang.”
  • Most probably it was him that saved her.
  • She knew this man but not well. He was seeing her mother for almost a year.
  • Joanne’s father passed away in a drunk-driving accident and she was glad that her mother found a new partner.
  • “There’s no need to thank me. Your mother was worried and asked me to follow you. I noticed you passing out and immediately brought you in.”
  • Her uncle’s words brought warmth to her body.
  • But the words that followed subsequently were like a hammer to her heart!
  • “Your mother said she will be too busy so she entrusted you to me. I won’t mind even if you’re divorced. Actually, I have always liked you Joanne… hehe... look at those sweet perky buns…”
  • Liang’s popping eyes leered greedily at every part of Joanne.
  • “Don’t worry, I will treat you very well. But now you need to follow me back to the countryside, we will get married and have one or two kids…”
  • Joanne’s pupils dilated in fright.
  • Liang was even older than her mother. Divorced twice and even his children were married!
  • She wobbled weakly and tried to search for her bag, she needed her phone and passport.
  • “Don’t bother, your mother knew you would try to run, so she confiscated all your stuffs…”
  • *gulp*
  • Uncle Liang closed in towards her, his smile stretched further than any normal smile would, and he leered at Joanne like a hungry man looking at a piece of meat.
  • “Your mother never let me have my way and it’s been awhile since I tasted a woman… Today she said she is giving you to me as a reward, I was sooo happy I almost burst one in the pants…gehehe”
  • “LET GO!!!!” Joanne desperately struck and pushed him away.
  • However it was too easy for the large, beefy man to push her down to the bed and climbed on her. One of his hands was pressing on the struggling woman and the other was hastily unzipping his pants…
  • “Be a good girl~ your mother said you were used to this in college. You were a rent girl and your ex-husband found out so he ditched you for that… Don’t worry, I don’t mind it at all. Your mother said you even earned quite some pocket money there… gehehe…”
  • Uncle Liang worked as a gardener. His hands were rough and strong. Joanne had no chance to break free.
  • All the humiliations, all the revolting touch of his were nothing… NOTHING AT ALL compared to her mother’s cruelty!!
  • Ever since she entered adulthood, she had never taken a single cent from her mother. Not only that, she even gave her the full amount of her scholarship…
  • She slept as little as she could, so she could study and work as much as possible! However, there wasn’t a single ounce of pity and due from her mother, JUST THIS!!
  • “Ma… Why…? WHY!!!”
  • Joanne screamed her lungs out and she convulsed violently.
  • Uncle Liang wiped off his drool and grab hold of her pale, wriggling waist…
