Chapter 8 Pain
- THEY STOPPED because of my constant coughing.
- "I'm sorry!" I said as I wiped my lips with a tissue towel.
- "Its alright, just slow down, Meredith." Alessandra laughing while saying that and I nodded to her.
- But I couldn't import my cutlery anymore because of the dark look Gabriel shot at me.
- They are no longer on the table but the pain they left behind is still here. I also didn't feel like putting away the food we ate and washed it without myself.
- "Meredith?"
- I quickly turned to Alessandra who was carrying a shoulder bag.
- "Meredith, I'm leaving, if you want, just go with Gabriel to get your things from your house?"
- "No, I can manage I'll
- just finish my work here."I refuse as I wipe my apron by hand.
- "Hmm, it's up to you, maybe I'll be late so I can go home later as much to do at the resort today."
- "Be careful." I smiled at her slightly.
- "So, I'll go first? "She glance at her wrist watch before turn away. I followed her and finally sighed.
- I also stared at my dishes for a few minutes before I heard footsteps approaching me again.
- I looked at Gabriel who opened the fridge to get a pitcher of water and gently laid it on the table before glancing at me.
- "Isn't that over?" he asked in a cold tone voice.
- "I'm sorry! What's the matter, K-Alessandra talked to me before she left." I explain that my heart is full of nervousness.
- Again he did not answer instead he walked towards my direction to raise his hands to open the cabinet next to me to get a glass.
- I could barely breathe due to mixed nervousness. Fortunately, he left immediately to go to the table and pour water into the glass he was holding.
- "He ordered me to accompany you to get your things." His baritone voice kills me.
- His gaze dropped to me after swallowing the glass of water. His stares at me even darker that I didn't know what the reason was.
- "H-no need, so I'll be alone," I said in a low voice.
- Silence.
- Fuck Meredith, you have to say something! I shouted to myself but in the end I said nothing.
- "Finish what you're doing and follow me outside." He broke the silence and left the kitchen.
- I was left speechless because of what he said.
- ****
- It was late at night when I finished cooking dinner. Also when I heard the vehicle coming.
- I enthusiastically welcomed Gabriel's arrival.
- "Good evening! Dinner is ready."i greeted him.
- He looked down at me for a second before he cut his gaze.
- "Call me when Alessandra's arrive," he said coldly and turned his back on me and went straight to the second floor of the house.
- I just quietly followed him with a look before letting out a sigh.
- Since he hasn't gone down, I decided to just watch TV. Even if I wanted to talk about him and ask some questions, I couldn't. I have this fear in my heart and I don't know how to really act normally whenever he's around.
- At seven o'clock I heard Alessandra's car coming.
- "Good evening!" I greeted her warmly when I opened the door for her.
- "Good evening Meredith, where's Gabriel?" she asked and go straight to the kitchen to get some cold water.
- "He is upstairs, he hasn't come down when he arrived earlier," I said in my low voice.
- I caught her glance at me before nodding slightly.
- "Did you get your things?" she sat in the chair for a while and continued drinking there.
- "Yes... "
- "How are your wounds?" she asked.
- I glanced at the bandage on my right arm, "It's still a bit painful but I've been taking pain reliever earlier."
- "Ah, it's good. I'm just going upstairs to get dressed. Please set the dinner."she said to me and started walking uphill.
- I hesitated to go up stair. I let out a few sighs before I decided to climb.
- I wouldn't have done it but the food has been served and it might get cold. I started to step on my feet but I tightened my heart again when I reached the second floor.
- I took a heavy steps towards the corridors. They said that their room was at the end of floor and as I approached I became even more deafened by the force of my chest beating.
- My feet stopped in front of their door. I bit my lower lip and took a hesitant step back from the door. I also swallowed a few times before I raised my hand to knock but I was stunned again because of the growls that could be heard from inside the room.
- I tightly grip my hands and bit my lips with anger. Even if I want to be deaf, I can't do it because as time goes on, the growls I hear get louder.
- "Gab–" I heard a deep moan coming from Alessandra.
- I'm not a fool to didn't know what they're doing. I shut my eyes and swallow hard the pain. I can't imagine my self watching him making out with his mistress.
- No, I can't ...
- Is there nothing more painful here? I forced myself to calm down and had no strength to lean against the side of the door.
- I looked up so I wouldn't feel my tears fall but they flowed like a faucet. I can 't help it. Fuck. This is bullshit!
- Big steps I ran away from there. I can't bear this pain anymore, I already felt the pain from the beginning but I kept going because I thought it was right but its all God damn bullshit!
- I went straight to my room and there I lay crying. This can't be happening! I should be there to be hugged by him, I should be the one to feel his love and nothing else. I am his wife! I am the only one who has more rights to him .
