Chapter 10 Swimming Pool

  • "I JUST don't want Alessandra to worry when you get sick," he said, looking down at the food again.
  • I bowed at what I heard. I knew it! I bit my lip hard. Once again I swallowed the pain of his words.
  • "Excuse me." I almost whispered in the air before I stepped my feet out of the kitchen.
  • I carried the pail of water towards the back of the house and sat on a bench facing the oval shape swimming pool. I also don't know why I'm carrying a pail.
  • I feel exhausted. I already felt tired because of the cleaning. I raised both my hands and frowned. I got sore in my hand, I could feel the tenderness of my back and the pain in my head, its getting worse everyday.
  • Since this is not what I am used to. I left my wealthy living in Queensland Island to enter as a maid here. We had twenty maids and three drivers at my Mansion. There I did not experience even handling the dishes, even cleaning and using a reed I did not do.
  • I felt my tears dripping which I immediately wiped away. It doesn't matter when my hand is sore and my back hurts, it doesn't matter when I get sick as long as I'm with him . Even though he is happy with someone else, I would rather just be here next to him.
  • I stopped at the thought of someone sneezing as I turned my gaze away.
  • "Crying alone?" He look at me with his two tiny black eyes while his arm cross around his chest.
  • It was too late to wipe away the tears, because I could see him watching me as I did that.
  • I did not answer but stood up to lift the bucket again but I immediately released it because of the painful hand.
  • "Let me help you with that." He stepped closer to me, I backed away because I could smell his natural scent blown by the wind. He quickly picked up the bucket and carried it to the side of the pool.
  • "If you wanted to water the plants, there is a faucet here and a hose." He pointed the faucet in the corner.
  • I nodded slightly and utter some word, "Thanks."
  • I started to aim the faucet so that it would start watering when he grabbed my arm to stop it.
  • I looked up at him quickly, because in the vertical of the sun I immediately looked down.
  • "Why are you crying?" His voice was soft as he asked.
  • I want to say he was the reason I was crying. Why did he forget me so quickly? I want to say — this is me, the woman you love! The woman you confronted at the altar and promised you would not leave! But I was discouraged. I wasn't have the ability to deal with the situation right now.
  • "N-nothing, sir..." I couldn't pull my arm because his gaze remained on me even though I wasn't looking.
  • " Is it because of what I said?" His voice were cold as ice.
  • I had to meet his gaze because of the tightness of his grip on my arm.
  • "No, its me. Its my fault anyway," I said shaking before I looked down at my arms.
  • He immediately released me as if it was burning before slamming in front of me and looking at the swimming pool.
  • "The pool needs to be cleaned, a lot of dry leaves floating there, the strainer is on the side," he said turning back to look straight at my wet clothes.
  • I was devastated by the way helooked at me so I quickly hugged myself out of sheer embarrassment. I know my body has scratches on my wet clothes so even when it's hot I can feel the cold.
  • I can't be wrong, he sighed with a mixture of restraint.
  • "Alessanda told me to take you to the grocery today. So, finish your work."
  • I stared into his eyes again, but I could see not a single emotion.
  • "Y-yes, sir." I answered.
  • I followed him with a look as he re -entered the house . I let out a violent sigh from the tension earlier.
  • I know it was my chance to say everything before, but something was holding me back, I don't know how he would react when he found out I was his real wife. I still can't accept in case Alessandra is the one she chooses and I'm not.
  • I just returned my attention to watering and then I faced the swimming pool. Only a few dry leaves fell from the tree so it was definitely easy for me.
  • But what I thought was easy was nothing short of hard . The stick was heavy, I wasn't aware of this kind of job, especially to dig the dry leaves right in the middle of the swimming pool. I never tried to cleanup the pool before, It was my first time, I must have been excited but when I felt squeaky and tired I couldn't smile.
  • All I want right now is to dive in the pool and feel the fresh cold of water. I closed my eyes firmly because I was tired. I only have a few leaves to finish so even a little far I forced to reach. Because the stick is heavy I have no choice but to just stabilize the handle. I smiled when I scooped up the last leaf but when I pulled it the stick accidentally dropped due to the weight so I fell straight into the pool.
  • I cried out because of the shock and cold that the water brought me.
  • "Oh my God!" I said washing my wet face.
  • "What happened here?!" I quickly turned to Gabriel who was obviously shocked to see me in the pool.
  • "Ii just fall of– "that trembling voice I said.
  • He didn't speak right away because of my answer.
  • Confused, I swam under the stick with the stainer submerged in the water, I tried to pull it up and when I got up, Gabriel was in front of me with a hand outstretched to me.
  • "The water is cold so they don't get foam." It was staring at me so instead of reaching for his hand I gave him the cleaning stick.
  • "I-I'll just take the dry leaf," I said quickly swimming back to the center.
  • "Haaah!" I said violently as I grabbed a few pieces of leaves.
  • "There you go," I said smiling.
  • I looked in the direction where Gab had been standing before but he was gone. I immediately felt frustrated so I swam a few times first to make the most of my fall.
  • I don't think he will make angry if I swim for a while. I closed my eyes and felt the heat of the sun hitting my skin. I just let myself float because I feel like water is massaging my back.
  • "Emory!" The dilated voice that called to me made me turn around so I immediately sank into the water.
  • When I got up, I realized that the sober Gabriel was the one I realized. His eyes turns red and impatiently standing at the ground.
  • "Fuck! Didn't you hear what I've said?!" It almost burst into flames as, he stared at me.
  • "I'm sorry," I whispered in scared.
  • I hurried up the stairs and that's how it turned back when I got up.
  • I couldn't help but feel embarrassed because everything was scratched on me. From the sleevelees shirt I was wearing to my leegings. It also didn't escape me how he looked at me.
  • "Look what you've done?!" His loud voice almost rumbled inside the house when I recovered.
  • "I'm sorry, it's a pity if I go up right away," I have a weak answer.
  • "Fuck! You are not allowed to swim at the pool again, understand? !" he scolded me.
  • I bit my lips at what he pointed out. Why? Do I have a contagious disease? Does he hate me, so he said that? Or, because he just looks like a mean helper to me?
  • "Am I understood?!" he bothers me again.
  • "Y-yes," my trembling voice answers. Against my will, I agreed so that we would not have to argue. It is because of me, I am really the one who is wrong so I have no right to complain.
  • "Here's your towel," he said.
  • I closed my eyes when he put it down on my head so I bowed. He rubbed it lightly and finally handed it to me looking straight at my wet body. I saw how his jaw tightened before averting his gaze .
  • Embarrassed, I reached for it and hugged myself.
  • "Excuse me," I softly say that as I passed him without moving to go inside the house.
