Chapter 3

  • Samantha's POV :
  • "I'm so excited to work with this team. They look promising, Mr. Smith." I smiled at David, the team lead, and sat down in my seat instantly falling in love with my new corner office. It was located on the 20th floor and had an amazing view of the Seattle skyline.
  • "It is our pleasure to have you work for us, Ms.Perez." he smiled politely.
  • "Although, I must warn you. I can be very brutal when it comes to working and they might be days when you have to work overtime. Are you guys up for it?" I asked, crossing my legs.
  • "Sure, Ms. Perez. I know you expect nothing but perfection and my team is the best in the company. I can assure you that," he stated confidently and I nodded with a smile.
  • "That's convincing. I'll call you if I need anything," I dismissed him and let out a huge sigh, thinking about all the events that unfolded today but more importantly my mind was stuck on a certain pair of grey eyes that kept haunting me since that day at the club. It was supposed to be a one-night whatever like he said and of all places, he had to work here.
  • That stupid hot freak of a man!
  • It was fucking unbelievable. I hated the fact that he still had an effect on me. I was never the type to sleep with random strangers but for some reason, I couldn't say no to those vulnerable sexy eyes that day. He was a fucking hot mess and I got attracted to that.
  • Yup, I was definitely sick in my head.
  • I shook my head and tried to focus on my new job. Breaking the rules did have consequences but I was his boss and he was going to work under me.It's going to be completely professional and cold as always.
  • The rest of the day seemed to drag and once the clock struck 5, I dragged myself out of my office to get some coffee. I hated having a secretary to handle my schedule or bring me coffee when I was very well capable of doing things my own so I turned down David's offer to hire me a secretary almost immediately. On my way to the break room, I noticed that Nate and his friend Ryan, packing their stuff to leave for the day.
  • "Gentlemen, where do you think you are going?" I smiled at them sweetly, folding my arms in front of my chest.
  • "Home, where else?" Nate opened his smart mouth and had a sullen look on his face. Guess, he was still mad about my comment on his designs. Whatever, it sucked and he should learn to deal with some constructive criticism. I take my work pretty seriously and sure, he had talent but he needed to put some more effort to make it better.
  • "So soon?" I scoffed and he glared at me. I continued to glare right back at him and neither of us broke eye contact until his friend coughed beside him.
  • "Uhh...we usually leave around 5, Ms. Perez."
  • "You can leave if you have completed your work but Mr. Wilson needs to complete the designs," I replied casually while he continued to grab his things and flung his sling bag across his chest. I noticed that he had rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, showing off his muscular forearms. Flashes of that night passed right before my eyes and I swallowed hard, thinking about how those skilled hands made me com-- stop it!
  • Fuck, why did he have to be so hot?
  • "Is it twenty-four hours already?" he asked sarcastically with a smirk and I opened and closed my mouth, not able to think of anything smart to say. He did have a point.
  • Dammit! I wanted to slap that sexy smirk off his face.
  • "Fine, I expect to see the designs in my office before I come in tomorrow," I replied sternly while his friend had his jaw hanging to the floor. I walked past them, without waiting for his reply.
  • What a jerk!
  • Once I reached home, I threw myself on my bed and closed my eyes. It was, all the same, every night. I come home to an empty apartment, cook something, eat, and sleep. This was my life. People might think I had a perfect life and I was living lavishly but only I knew how fucking lonely it was.
  • I was an only child and my parents were divorced. I practically grew up on my own and worked my ass off to be where I am. My parents hardly ever cared about me and I was used to it by now. Letting out a huge sigh, I pulled myself from the bed and made my way towards the kitchen to cook some food and the same old routine continued again.
  • The next morning, I woke up and got dressed in a white fit and flare dress that looked really pretty and complimented my olive skin tone. After wearing minimal make-up and brushing a comb through my shoulder-length hair, I grabbed my stuff and rushed out of my apartment, not wanting to be late even though I was the boss.
  • "Good morning, Ms. Perez." I was greeted by a couple of my team members and I smiled, greeting them back. Well, people are much nicer and friendlier here. I walked towards my office with my bag in one hand and my coffee in another.
  • "Looking great, Ms. Perez." A random girl grinned as she walked past me and I smile back just to be polite even though I had no idea who she was.
  • Looks like everyone knows about me already,
  • I pushed the door to my office with my body as my hands were full and walked inside, feeling positive. Maybe I should start being friendly instead of being so professional and uptight all the time. As I made my way inside, I bumped into a rock hard chest which made me spill my coffee all over my dress.
  • Coffee and White dress! Perfect!
  • I looked down at the now ruined outfit and felt relieved for a second that the beverage wasn't hot. I lifted my eyes to see the person who was responsible for this and was met with a pair of frightened-looking grey eyes.
  • Of course, it was him!
  • "What the hell are you doing here?" I yelled, staring at him with wide eyes, ready to murder him any second now.
  • So much for trying to be friendly!
  • "Ms. Perez, I-- I was just d--dropping off the designs. I didn't...I didn't mean to---" he stuttered and looked like he was about to shit himself.
  • "Get out," I hissed in a low voice, not looking at him and that was all he needed. He rushed out of my office like he saw a ghost and I groaned in frustration.
  • Great fucking start to the day!
