Chapter 7

  • ***
  • Noemi's POV:
  • The twins and I listened to our fathers give us instructions. Give me instructions.
  • It was the weekend already and one of our important rendezvous with some mighty drug Lords were fast approaching.
  • "Lèaina, are you sure of yourself, sweetheart? You really don't want Enzo or Al to come with you?"
  • My dad asked.
  • "No, dad. I want to do this on my own. I'll have two of our men with us and that's enough. If I show up with one of the twins, it'll look like I'm unable to handle the businesses without supervision or help. How will anyone ever take me seriously if I have to show up with my big bros every single time?" I asked.
  • "Hmm, true. It's just that-"
  • "I can do this." I cut him, "What a man can do, I can. Yes it's quite riskier for me as a woman, as y'all think cuz I don't think same, I will show you that I can handle things dad. You trust me don't you?"
  • I heard him sigh a little. I understood that he was worried but he had to let me learn.
  • "Yeah..."
  • "You trust me too, Uncle Tony?"
  • "Sure, dear. Just be very careful, please."
  • "I will. I promise."
  • I heard them finally agree with me.
  • "Alright. It's going to take place tomorrow night. The man we're to do a trade with will send me the address of the meeting point and I'll send it down to you before tomorrow night. Two of my men will come pick you up."
  • "Alright, dad. Thank you."
  • "Welcome, dear. Love you."
  • "Love you too." I then thought of something, "And oh, dad? Uncle Tony?"
  • "Yes?" I heard them reply in a chorus.
  • "Don't you dare to ask the twins to follow me, tomorrow night." I mused though I meant every single word. My tone remained firm and I looked at the smiling and amused twins.
  • I heard my dad and uncle laugh a little.
  • "I mean it. Don't." I added in a more serious tone, "Cuz I swear, if by chance I catch them anywhere near my rendezvous site, I'll be very angry and you know how I am when I'm not happy and disappointed. I'll be pissed with every single one of you. Have I made myself clear, please?"
  • "Yes ma'am." they replied, amused.
  • I then looked at the twins.
  • "Have I made myself clear, guys?" I asked them the same question, "I really don't wanna see your faces anywhere near my site. I don't want to lose it."
  • The twins chuckled and had the same reactions, raising their hands in surrender.
  • "Yes, ma'am." they replied as well.
  • "Good." I smiled and stood, "I love all of you. Now excuse me please. I'll call you later, dad."
  • "Alright, honey."
  • And with that, I left Lorenzo's room.
  • Writer's POV:
  • "You're really gonna let her go without us following?" Alejandro mused, asking his father and uncle.
  • "You really want to try her?" Leandro replied with a question and they all laughed.
  • "She was probably smiling while saying that but she definitely wasn't joking. I know that tone. Her mother has the same and you know how serious she is when she talks like that."
  • "True, true." the twins nodded in agreement and amusement. They too knew their cousin very well.
  • "Alright. I trust her. I know Noemi can do this on her own." Lorenzo said.
  • "We all do. Let's just hope that everything goes as planned."
  • "Yeah."
  • "As for you, guys, René Göttingen is supposed to repay a debt to us by next week Monday. It's the second chance we're giving him." their father started.
  • "We're talking about how much here?" Alejandro asked.
  • "Twenty milli."
  • "Ohhhh." the twins cooed in a chorus.
  • "That isn't little money." Lorenzo mused.
  • "At all. We gave him a whole year to repay our money. That was way too lenient, coming for Leandro and I. He gave so much excuses the first time and so we gave him a second chance. Monday is the last day and we'll call him for the money. If he gives more excuses, you two will show up and pay him a visit."
  • "That'll be so nice of us." Alejandro joked and his twin chuckled.
  • "He's a coward and is known for always running from his duties. If he doesn't pay our money back on Monday, you know what to do. He's in Miami right now and doesn't know that you two are here. He doesn't even know you. That's perfect."
  • "Is it weird that some part of me actually wants him not to pay? So we get to visit him?" Lorenzo mused and his brother and fathers laughed.
  • "It's not. We want same cuz he made us waste a damn year! We've never been this lenient and it seems he wants to take us for granted." their uncle said.
  • "We're already ready."
  • "Good. We'll call you later during the day."
  • "Alright." they replied in a chorus.

  • Noemi's POV:
  • I entered Dino's room in search of him. I didn't see him immediately I entered and was going to call him when he stepped out of his bathroom to see who had entered his room.
  • "Oh, it's you?" he smiled and honestly I was preoccupied by the fact that he was in boxers and nothing else. Oh, he was gorgeous.
  • I finally looked him in the eyes and smiled back
  • I finally looked him in the eyes and smiled back.
  • "Yeah, sorry I didn't knock." I apologised.
  • "It's fine." he shrugged and went to the big mirror in a corner, "You're not gonna sit?"
  • "Of course I will." I mused and went to sit on his bed.
  • I watched him and noticed how his back muscles flexed while he applied some gel in his hair. He'd just showered and smelt really good. My eyes were all over him and I when I realised it, I shook my head in amusement.
  • 'Chill. He has a girlfriend.'
  • That didn't stop me though because immediately after, I said:
  • "Come sit and let me comb your hair."
  • He turned, amused and his cheeks a little pink.
  • "That sounds good." he chuckled and came to sit.
  • I stood and got in front of him, standing in between his open thighs. I took the comb and started to style his beautiful hair the way I wanted. I stood so close that I could feel his warm breath against my tummy, given that I had a crop top on. It gave me sweet chills.
  • When I finished, I sat on his thigh and wrapped my arms around his neck, causing him to hold me by the waist.
  • "There. I'm done." I smiled at him and he smiled back.
  • 'His smile.'
  • "Well, thank you. Styled by the fashionista herself." he said proudly and we chuckled.
  • "A piece of art." I added with a giggle, "Let me allow you to dress, now. I'm in the living room."
  • "Okay."
  • I tapped my cheek with a finger and he smirked before leaning in and kissing me on the cheek in the softest manner ever. That was something we did even as teens and I loved how soft his lips felt.
  • "Now, I'm good to go." I chuckled and got up, heading for the door.
  • Before going out, I turned to smile one last time at him. Just in time to catch him staring at my ass. When he looked up at me, I smiled knowingly and he smiled back rather shyly. With that, I left his room.

  • Writer's POV:
  • Reena went to the mall that afternoon to shop for herself.
  • She was in a shoe shop and busy admiring what the shop had to offer when suddenly, she spotted a brown haired young woman that caught her attention at one end of the shop.
  • Reena frowned a little as the girl looked very familiar. The girl was busy checking the shoes while on phone with someone. When she laughed a little, Reena's eyes widened and she gasped.
  • "Could it be..." she stared, recognising that smile and giggly laugh.
  • 'No way.'
  • Putting the shoebox she had down, she slowly approached the young woman.
  • ~
  • Maude had been backing Reena and was still checking shoes and talking on phone. When she hung up and put her phone away, someone behind her called, as if unsure or doubtful:
  • "Maude?"
  • "Yes?" Maude replied while she turned. When she saw who it was, she froze a little, not immediately recognising her once best friend.
  • Reena froze and her mouth dropped slightly open, goosebumps covering her skin.
  • "Maude Dubreaux?" Reena repeated in a low voice and with a shocked expression.
  • "Y- yes?" Maude was a little confused and stared at the girl talking to her.
  • 'She looks so familiar. Where have I seen her before?'
  • "Do I know you, please?" Maude asked, staring intensively at Reena and trying to figure out.
  • Reena smiled and her eyes prickled a little. She tried to say something but ended up speechless.
  • Maude was still staring when it suddenly hit her like lightening. Her mouth dropped and she slowly put her shoebox down. She gasped a little.
  • "R- Reena?" she stammered, her heart skipping a beat, "Is it you?"
  • Reena still unable to speak yet, nodded.
  • "Oh my gawd!" Maude gasped, covering her mouth with a hand.
  • After all the years and the way they had parted, they stood staring at each other in awe and not knowing how to really react.
  • Reena's skin was covered in goosebumps and she gathered the courage to speak again:
  • "I missed you." she muttered, swallowing hard and emotions taking over.
  • Maude's eyes were already watering and she stepped closer.
  • "I missed you too." she smiled, "I can't believe this."
  • Without further thinking, she pulled Reena in for a hug. Relief washed over Reena who immediately hugged her back.
  • "Oh my gawd." both giggled as they hugged tight, trying hard to blink away their tears. It was close to impossible.
  • Reena felt so relieved as she'd been guilty that it had been her fault that Maude as well had been embarked in the problems with Ricardo some years back. She thought Maude had intentionally shunned her and hated her. But neither did she know that it was only a problem of changed numbers and deleted social media.
  • They giggled happily in their hug and finally raised their heads to look at each other.
  • "You're crying." Maude giggled, wiping her own eyes carefully.
  • "You too." Reena laughed, wiping hers. "I can't believe this is you in front of me. We're here, in Miami."
  • "I know right. I missed you so much."
  • "I missed you too." they laughed and hugged again. "Moe, you look stunning. You are even more beautiful!"
  • "Thank you." Maude smiled at her friend, "And you! You are gorgeous, Ree."
  • "We have so much to talk about."
  • "I agree. Let's go to the ice cream shop nearby. We'll talk all we want."
  • "Alright! I'm so happy right now."
  • "Me too."
  • They laughed and left the shoe shop hand in hand, giggling and chatting.
