• "She needs a lot of rest and food too," The pack doctor says to me. As angry as I am at Nala I don't want her dead. I love her and the past months have been horrible for me. I have to get away to think. I need to know what I am doing wrong that makes her doubt me. As you can guess, nothing comes to my mind. I'm certain I've treated her the right way. I broke my promise when I left her but we both needed the break. 
• When Vivian called me at night on a particular day to tell me Nala is pregnant, I seriously thought she made a plan with Nala to get me home but the odd smell from her when I got home made me realize I missed the first few weeks of her pregnancy.
