Chapter 4 Ex-wife

  • “Why do some libraries always have to be dark and creepy?” Jessica questioned when they walked into the library. “This one does not even have a single window,” Jessica remarked.
  • “It is to protect the books from sunlight,” Ann chuckled.
  • “I take it your boyfriend told you this?” Jessica said, when her eyes fell on Paris that was having a heated argument with another girl. Ann doesn’t recognize her, but Jessica’s memories of the girl returned the moment her eyes fell on her. ‘This is not good,’ Jessica thought.
  • Ann wasted no time walking over to Paris, dragging Jessica with her.
  • “Hi,” Ann greeted and gave Paris a stiff kiss with the foreign-looking beauty’s eyes on her.
  • “Meet Soroya. Soroya, meet my, um,” Paris wasn’t sure how he should introduce Ann.
  • “Girlfriend,” Ann said, and held out her hand to Soroya.
  • “Ex-wife, but since we never got divorced I suppose, wife,” Soroya smiled sarcastically, taking Ann’s hand.
  • Ann pulled her hand out of Soroya’s and looked confused at Paris.
  • “Just one moment,” Paris said, and grabbed Soroya by her arm before dragging her away.
  • Ann and Jessica looked from afar as the heated argument they walked in on continued.
  • “He never mentioned a wife to me,” Ann choked. “He is too young to be married already, right?”
  • “Let’s go,” Jessica tried to get Ann out of the library.
  • “No,” Ann protested, hot tears running down her face.
  • “He made a fool out of you. Don’t let him see that,” Jessica said, and tried to pull her out of the library again and the second time around, Ann realized Jessica was right.
  • As they walked out of the library, they walked into Michael, the Vampire king that was a Daywalker or also known as a prehistoric that had a beating heart and ate food. Ann does not remember, but she saved Michael and he was bound to obey her by a promise she made him make.
  • “Who made a pretty thing like you cry?” Michael stopped them.
  • “Fuck off,” Jessica spat, knowing exactly who he was.
  • Ann looked at Michael and instantly found his dark features, shoulder-length brown hair, golden brown eyes, and broad shoulders attractive. She dropped her eyes again and allowed Jessica to pull her along.
  • Michael walked into the library and saw that Paris and Soroya were arguing. ‘Good, everything is going to plan,’ Michael thought. He could not believe that Paris was spending the whole summer with Ann without him even knowing it. While Paris was dating Ann, Michael was searching icy mountains for his family to set them free, and so he did; half a dozen wives. He spent his summer training them in modern-day customs and now they are all in roll to study along with him and Ann.
  • They will make sure no other guy comes near Ann. Soroya had other plans, though. She has fallen hopelessly in love with Michael and Shysie promised her if she can keep Paris and Ann apart, that she will help her marry Michael and be his only woman. Only, Shysie had no intentions to help Soroya get Michael as she had her own deal with Michael.

  • “I know it is the vampire king you are after, so why are you messing things up between Ann and myself?” Paris spat.
  • “Shhh,” an irritated student tried to silence them for the tenth time.
  • “Let us go talk someplace private,” Soroya whispered.
  • “You know I am stuck in the library until nightfall,” Paris hissed.
  • “Shhh,” the irritated student silent him again.
  • Paris grabbed her by her face. “Go read someplace else,” he compelled her, not caring who was looking. The student jumped up from her chair and ran off.
  • “You will tell Ann that you were only kidding,” Paris hissed.
  • “I will do no such thing,” Soroya protested.
  • “Don’t make me compel you,” Paris warned her.
  • “It won't hold,” Soroya said, knowing she was wearing a shaman necklace. “Besides, you know it is forbidden to compel anyone from your nest.
  • “I am not part of your nest,” Paris snarled at her.
  • “Then on who have you been feeding all this time?” Soroya asked, curious.
  • “I joined another nest,” Paris lied, but Soroya didn’t pick up on it as he changed too much over the past 900 years. It was believed that Shysie killed Soroya on their wedding night out of jealousy, but it turned out that she didn’t and six months ago Paris found her. He needed to know if she was happy and when he found her unhappy, he stole her away and took her to Alaska. On the way to Alaska, Soroya convinced him to sleep with her so that he can be sure of his feelings. Of course, Ann found out, but after three months of hating Paris, Ann still found herself in love with Paris and gave her virginity to him. The very next day, her memory got wiped, but not before Paris compelled her to remember him in her dreams, and that was why Ann had been dreaming of Paris.
  • For the past three months, Paris drank from random people and compelled them to forget it. Ann was not an option as he once made her a promise that he will not drink from her without permission and a vampire was bound to their promise. Just the thought of breaking a promise had their skin boiling.
  • Soroya noticed Michael, and he signaled her to come over.
  • ‘What is he doing here?’ Paris wondered with disappointment when he saw Michael.
  • “I knew he had something to do with it. If Ann is with me, you can have Micheal all to yourself,” Paris said.
  • ‘Not with his former wives around,’ Soroya thought and made her way over to Michael.
  • “What are you doing with him?” Michael pretended to be jealous.
  • “I was just saying hello,” Soroya said, taking his hand.
  • “Shysie got kicked out of the dorm room so you will take her place and I want every last detail on the girls,” Micheal said.
  • “But I want to stay with you,” Soroya pleaded.
  • “Are you sure? Because to me it looks like you want to stay with Paris,” Michael brushed her off.
  • “No, it is not like that at all. I am just helping Shysie get the man she loves back,” Soroya cried.
  • “Why would you do that? If Ann is not with Paris, then she is mine for the taking,” Micheal chuckled.
  • “I told you, I don’t mind sharing, as long as I get to be with you,” Soroya said, her eyelashes wet.
  • Micheal reached out and touched her cheek, wiping away a tear. ‘I hate making her cry. She has royal blood and would make the perfect queen. But, Ann will never allow me to have more than one woman, especially Soroya,’ Michael thought, and dropped his hand. “Proof yourself to me.”
  • “I will,” Soroya said, and wiped her face.
  • “Go to the dorm room right now before someone else fills the spot,” Michael ordered her.
  • Soroya ran off, but Michael stopped her. “If you disappoint me, I will send you back to Merch.” Even though he made the threat, he knew it was an empty promise, as he will never do that to any woman.
  • Soroya made her hands into fists before she continued on to Jessica’s and Ann’s dorm room.
  • Merch was her current husband. Somehow Shysie had her memory wiped and all Soroya ever remembered was being married to a Vampire nest leader, called Merch, who had three times as many wives as Michael. The only reason she remembers Paris was because she drank from him and could see the life they had together.
