Chapter 11 Let Us Get Married

  • Not even Lingrui’s biological father could take him away.
  • That man did nothing but plant his seed in her; he had no right to take her child away.
  • “I meant exactly what I said. You still must collect the medication. It’d be troublesome to do so while carrying Lingrui. I’m a man, so helping you carry him for a while isn’t any trouble. Why would you fight over this at the hospital? Those who don’t know about us would think I’m being so uncaring toward my wife.”
  • “W-Who’s your wife? Don’t say such nonsense.”
  • Those who came to be treated couldn’t help but glance at this picturesque-looking ‘family’.
  • Min Qing’s face turned even redder. How can this man say whatever he wants?
  • He’s like a scoundrel.
  • Ji Fuchen brushed the dust off his shoulders. “There’s no point in me saying nonsense. Anyone who sees Lingrui and my face will automatically think of us as father and son. Don’t you agree, Lingrui?”
  • Min Lingrui tilted his head, stared at him seriously and suddenly grinned, showing his small baby teeth. “Are you courting my mommy, Uncle?”
  • Ji Fuchen instantly turned red.
  • Is this kid a genius? How witty can he be?
  • Ji Fuchen gently coughed twice. “If you want me to court your mommy, I’ll do it.”
  • Min Lingrui clapped his hands in excitement. “Yeah!”
  • Min Qing immediately covered Min Lingrui’s mouth and glared at Ji Fuchen. “Mr. Ji, you’re a big shot in R City. Can you not joke around with me and my child?”
  • Ji Fuchen frowned, and a trace of unhappiness flashed in his eyes. “You think I’m joking with you?”
  • Min Qing was frightened by the man’s sudden cold gaze. How can this man change at the bat of an eyelid?
  • Min Qing put on a bold front and answered, “Are you not? Will you really marry me and take Lingrui as your son?”
  • Ji Fuchen gazed at her with his deep black eyes, as though he was reading her thoughts.
  • Min Qing shuddered.
  • He suddenly opened his mouth. “You want me to marry you?”
  • Min Qing looked up in surprise. She just didn’t want him to joke around with them; when did she ever say she wanted him to marry her?
  • This man really knows how to twist other people’s words!
  • Without even waiting for an answer, Ji Fuchen continued, “Alright. When you’re done collecting the medication, we’ll head to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get our certificate.”
  • Min Qing was beyond horrified. “You’ve misunderstood me, Mr. Ji! That’s not what I meant.”
  • Ji Fuchen’s expression turned ice cold, and so did his voice. “You don’t want to marry me?”
  • Min Qing didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
  • Gosh, we’ve just met two hours ago! Even an express marriage application doesn’t happen this quickly.
  • Min Lingrui quietly gazed at his mommy with a complicated feeling in his heart. He really liked Mr. Ji, who looked so similar to him. Most importantly, this man was the father of his dreams—a hero who could defeat anyone who picked on his mommy.
  • But judging from his mommy’s expression, she didn’t seem too willing to marry Mr. Ji!
  • “Thank you for all your help today, Mr. Ji. I love my husband very much, so I’ve never thought about leaving him.”
  • Min Qing had no choice but to come up with a lie. She then quickly snatched little Lingrui over while the man was in shock and ran off faster than a rabbit, as though Ji Fuchen was a big, bad wolf.
  • She’s married?
  • Ji Fuchen stood there motionlessly. Hearing that she loved her current husband made him suddenly feel very unhappy.
  • Where did her husband go when she and the child were being picked on at Dorsett?
  • Is such a man even fit to be her husband?
  • Yan Su had returned to Dorsett after sending Xuan to the Ji Manor. He then rushed over to the hospital after hearing that his boss was here.
  • The assistant was happy to see Ji Fuchen at the lobby, but soon noticed that something was off. His boss looked extremely hostile standing there.
  • Did someone offend Mr. Ji?
  • Yan Su carefully approached Ji Fuchen. “M-Mr. Ji.”
  • Ji Fuchen gave Yan Su a glance and placed his seemingly empty right hand in front of the assistant.
  • With wide eyes, Yan Su retrieved a very short strand of black hair from Ji Fuchen’s hand.
  • He was taken aback. “Mr. Ji, i-is this...”
  • Ji Fuchen frowned. Yan Su was talking too much.
  • “Run this through a DNA test and show me the results as soon as possible,” he said coldly.
